The recent ban imposed on the NSCN (K) for five years was a setback for the government of Nagaland and various organizations who have been urging both the Centre and the outfit to reconsider their stands and review the abrogation of the cease fire.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>To make its stand clear, that it will not be swayed by public pressure, Centre had also announced a bounty of Rs.17 lakh on the NSCN (K) supremo S.S. Khaplang and the outfit\u2019s military chief \u2018Lt. Gen\u2019 Niki Sumi. In Nagaland, the army has decided to curb activities of armed elements and reserved its right to retaliate when confronted.<\/div>\n<div>According to defence sources, security forces have resolved to take a tough stand especially in the light of attacks during the past few months following the unilateral abrogation of cease-fire by NSCN (K) and subsequent casualties suffered during attacks.<\/div>\n<div>Even in Assam, the Army along with state police have launched intensive proactive operations directed at the NDFB (S) and ULFA (Paresh Baruah faction).
