Ceasefire which was extended to NSCN (K) will now be applicable to both GPRN\/NSCN led by Kitovi and Khole and NSCN led by Khaplang, said Cease Fire Supervisory Board (CFSB) chairman Maj. Gen. (retd) Eppen Jacob Kochekkan after a closed-door meeting with representatives of GPRN\/NSCN at Police Conference hall Chumukedima Monday.<\/p>\n
Asked which group was the government of India defining as NSCN (K)- one led by Khole and Kitovi or the other led by Khaplang- Kochekkan replied it was not necessary to go into semantics of naming the groups though admitting that division had occurred in the NSCN (K)-one led by Kitovi and Khole and the other continuously led by Khaplang.
\nHe said both factions had \u201cfortunately\u201d expressed their willingness to continue ceasefire with government of India adding dialogue should continue with both groups within the ambit of the CFSB.<\/p>\n
Kochekkan also said he urged both factions who have taken \u201caggressive posturing\u201d especially in Zunheboto district, to return back to their designated camps. He also said he has sought assistance of the groups to bring down the level of extortion.
\nOn Monday\u2019s meeting, he described it as cordial with all points raised by the representatives to be taken into consideration so as to move forward in a manner that would strengthen the peace process. On the request of the GPRN\/NSCN for designated camps at Mon, Zunheboto and Tuensang was considered, Kochekkan said it would be put to stakeholders and decision taken after consideration by them.
\nC. Singsong convener CFSB, representing GPRN\/NSCN (Khehoi), said the meeting was positive as representatives on behalf of government of India \u201cunderstand the situation\u201d. He expressed hope that \u201cvery soon\u201d all the problems would be solved.
\nSingsong the meeting discussed the split of the NSCN (K), which had created fear in the minds of public especially in Zunheboto district and it was agreed that peace should prevail in Zunheboto for Sumis in particular and Nagas in general.
\nHe also said law enforcement agencies always tended to blame factions in Nagaland for extortions but he had pointed out that outfits from outside Nagaland were also deeply involved.
\nHe challenged Naga public to work together to contain extortion instead of only expressing their concern.
\nOn the situation at Suruhuto, Singson said GPRN\/NSCN moved its armed cadres to Suruhuto in response to \u201cbombastic statements\u201d by Kughalu Mulatonu and \u2018Lt.Gen\u2019 Nikki of NSCN (K) who alleged that only civilians were in Khehoi without arms and ammunition. Singson also revealed that his side had requested the shifting of the Cease Fire office from Mon to Dimapur and allotting designated camps at Zunheboto, Mon and Tuensang.
\nThose who attended the meeting included- Maj. Gen. (retd) Eppen Jacob Kochekkan CFSB chairman, Banuo Z Jamir ACS & commissioner, S.T. Sangtam ADG (A), Maj Gen Sandeep Singh IGAR (N), A.N Pandey 2 I\/C SO, DIG CRPF, G. Rengma S.O, Lt. K.S Kapur HQ. IGAR (N), DSP (retd.) Shokum Yimchunger assistant to CMG chairman represented the government while C. Singsong convener CFSB, Jack Jimomi, Bohoto Kiba and Kideon V. Zhimomi represented the GPRN\/NSCN.
\nAnother meeting of the CFMG with the NSCN (I-M) scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday was cancelled as the representatives failed to turn up. <\/p>\n
