{"id":126537,"date":"2015-09-09T00:53:15","date_gmt":"2015-09-09T00:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2015\/09\/09\/nagas-have-right-to-discuss-on-naga-issue-says-acaut\/"},"modified":"2015-09-09T00:53:15","modified_gmt":"2015-09-09T00:53:15","slug":"nagas-have-right-to-discuss-on-naga-issue-says-acaut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2015\/09\/09\/nagas-have-right-to-discuss-on-naga-issue-says-acaut\/","title":{"rendered":"Nagas have right to discuss  on Naga issue, says ACAUT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div>ACAUT has expressed regrets over Naga Hoho\u2019s inability to accept ACAUT\u2019s invitation to attend the proposed \u2018Common Platform\u201d deemed as inappropriate at the present juncture on a \u201chighly sensitive Naga political issue and Naga Hoho also requesting all its constituent units\/hohos to follow its stand.<\/div>\n<div>ACAUT, through its media cell said it respected the concerns of the Naga Hoho but assured that the September 12 \u2018Common Platform\u2019 at DDSC stadium Dimapur was only a discourse on the current state of affairs in Nagaland and therefore, NH\u2019s \u201cfears are misplaced and unfounded.\u201d&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>ACUT reiterated that, such a \u2018Common Platform\u2019 was only meant to solicit views of prominent citizens\/intellectuals etc after it sensed the importance for Nagas in having frank and open dialogue at the present juncture of Naga history.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>ACAUT said it was \u201cdisconcerting that most Nagas have not reconciled to the idea of sharing opinions and free exchange of ideas\u201d and which was essentially what the common platform was about.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>One of the aims of the common platform was to \u201cencourage honest discussion on democratization of the whole nation building process\u201d and for which serious introspection was called for, said ACAUT.<\/div>\n<div>ACAUT said it was important that any citizen\u2019s right to make informed decisions, which existed in an independent, democratic and republican Naga village system was not impinged. Further, ACAUT said an individual should not lose democratic space to \u201cselective decisions of a few, at the cost of the vast but crucial uninformed majority\u201d.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The proposed common platform sought to bring the saner opinions of intellectuals and prominent citizens to the fore as their voices were often\u201d pushed to the periphery and seldom heard\u201d, it added.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>ACAUT said it was crucial that the voices of all these stakeholders was heard and understood by all stake holders.<\/div>\n<div>While applauding and respecting Naga Hoho for its initiative to hold an \u2018international conference\u2019 on Naga political issue in October; ACAUT reiterated that it was also equally important to hold a \u2018grass root conference\u2019 as all Nagas were also stakeholders of the Naga issue that was in public domain.
