Divisional forest officer Dimapur forest division has rubbished the claim that planting teak trees were hazardous to health and environment etc. as alleged by village councils and village authorities under the district of Dimapur. <\/p>\n
Divisional forest officer, (DFO) Dimapur forest division Kocha Meyase informed general public and tree planters in particular that, trees were the key factor in maintaining the eco-system and protect the environment and there are no scientific proof that teak trees were hazardous to health and environment. <\/p>\n
With regard to the village authorities ordering, directing individual to cut down teak trees, DFO explained that felling down planted trees prematurely before attaining the economical harvesting age will affect heavily on the economy of state in general and tree planters in particular.
\nIn this connection, individuals and authorities issuing such directives, orders have been requested not to issue such un-founded\/false statement and directives, orders till such time the alleged statements were scientifically proved. <\/p>\n
DFO also appealed to general public, authorities and individual having proof, doubt and suspicion on teak trees having ill effect to health and environment to come forward for further scientific verification and investigation.<\/p>\n
