{"id":126770,"date":"2015-08-06T00:39:49","date_gmt":"2015-08-06T00:39:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2015\/08\/06\/excessive-rain-affects-kiphire-district\/"},"modified":"2015-08-06T00:39:49","modified_gmt":"2015-08-06T00:39:49","slug":"excessive-rain-affects-kiphire-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2015\/08\/06\/excessive-rain-affects-kiphire-district\/","title":{"rendered":"Excessive rain affects Kiphire district"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Heavy rainfall in Kiphire district has caused hardships to citizens as fields and roads have been damaged and properties destroyed.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>The heavy downpour &nbsp;on July 24 and August 3 have completely cut off Kiphire-Tuensang road along the NH-202 at two locations, one at 20 kms away from Kiphire town and other at 22 km near Anatonger Village under Kiphire district.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The road leading to Pungro town from Kiphire town has also been damaged on July 24 but has been repaired by the concern department. &nbsp;The rain has also washed away the road at Thunyingrow Nalla, though light vehicles can pass this route by crossing the river however Khiararow Nalla road which is the only route to Tuensang district has been completely cut off.<\/div>\n<div>Heavy rainfall has even washed away the terrace fields in many parts of Kiphire district which is the only source of livelihood of the villagers.<\/div>\n<div>Terrace filed of many of the villagers in Langzanger, Thsingar, Phisami, Yingshikiur and Kiphire village have been washed away by the rain forcing them to abandon their traditional and age long fields.<\/div>\n<div>One of the affected villagers from Langzanger while narrating July 24 rainfall said he was sleeping in his hut in the field but had to rush back to the village as water level of river began to rise above normal. The villager said that the next morning when he went back to the field, all terrace fields were washed away and he unable to locate his own field.<\/div>\n<div>It is learnt that more than 4000 beneficiaries was listed in the year 2010-11, 2011-12 and only Rs. 157 to 208 was given to the beneficiaries in Kiphire district for damages due to different type of disasters. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>This merger amount will not be of any help to the victims of natural disaster however it district administration and disaster management committee Kiphire has been trying their best to cover and compensate the affected villagers.
