Assam Rifles of HQ 5 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) celebrated \u2018Vijay Diwas Day\u2019 by paying tribute to Capt (Late) Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC and all brave martyrs of the country at the memorial site at Pheza village. <\/p>\n
Wreaths were laid by Maj Gen B S Das, SM, IGAR (North) and Brig R Ravi Commander 5 Sect Assam Rifles to pay homage to the brave soldier on behalf of all officers and men of Assam Rifles, Ngseue Kenguruse, family, friends, relatives chairman & GB\u2019s of Nerhema and neighbouring villages, school children of Nerhema Middle School, Chiephobozou.<\/p>\n
Capt (Late) Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC, son of Ngseue Kenguruse of Nerhema village was born on July 15, 1974. He did his schooling at St. Xavier School, Jalukie and graduated from Kohima Science College. <\/p>\n
He served as a teacher at Government High School, Kohima from 1994 to 1997. He was later commissioned into the Indian Army on December 12, 1998. <\/p>\n
On June 28, 1999, during Kargil War, he attained martyrdom while destroying enemy bunker and killing four enemy soldiers. He was awarded \u2018Mahavir Chakra\u2019 for his gallant act.<\/p>\n
Saluting the martyr for exceptional act of bravery, Maj Gen B S Das, SM, IGAR (North), highlighted the leadership qualities of the brave officer of the Indian Army which would continue to inspire the personnel in uniform. <\/p>\n
He also added that Capt (Late) Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC made not only Nagaland but the entire country proud, and conveyed his wishes to the family members of Late Kenguruse, MVC. <\/p>\n
5 Sector Assam Rifles\u2019s \u2018Bravery Award\u2019 presented every year to local villager for showing exceptional courage and presence of mind in the face of danger, was presented to K Holhipe Mekroisuh of Chizami village.<\/p>\n
Mekroisuh was awarded for showing outstanding presence of mind and bravery disregard to his safety, wherein he tried to save the lives of three children from fire at Chizami village on July 17. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
