On Sunday, Diesel, 48, confirmed via Instagram that he would be reprising the role for a new sequel. <br \/>\n\u201cWhile I was filming XXX, guys on set called me Air Diesel,\u201d he said. \u201cThe time to return has come. Filming starts December in the Philippines.\u201d<br \/>\nA financial success, the original film spawned a single sequel, XXX: State of the Union in 2005, though Diesel sat out this film and Ice Cube took the lead, playing a new character. The film did not perform as well as the original, and for the past decade the franchise appeared to be dead.<br \/>\nThe original XXX also starred Samuel L. Jackson and Asia Argento.
