{"id":128617,"date":"2015-07-15T00:59:53","date_gmt":"2015-07-15T00:59:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2015\/07\/15\/gprn-nscn-decry-afspa-and-disturbed-area-act-in-nagaland\/"},"modified":"2025-04-02T11:56:28","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T06:26:28","slug":"gprn-nscn-decry-afspa-and-disturbed-area-act-in-nagaland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2015\/07\/15\/gprn-nscn-decry-afspa-and-disturbed-area-act-in-nagaland\/","title":{"rendered":"GPRN\/NSCN decry AFSPA and Disturbed Area Act in Nagaland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div>GPRN\/NSCN chairman \u2018Gen(Retd)\u2019 Khole and general secretary N.Kitovi Zhimomi, said they were deeply disturbed by the action of the government of India in \u201cenforcing inhuman Armed Forces Special Powers Act and the Disturbed Area Act in Nagaland.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>According to MIP, the GPRN\/NSCN leaders termed the action as \u201can extremely insensitive decision on the part of the GoI, against the Naga people\u201d and that \u201cacts of aggression of this nature do not augur well for the GoI\u2019s look east policy\u201d.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>GPRN\/NSCN asked, if S.S.Khaplang \u201csitting in his hutment in Burma, abrogates the cease fire with the GoI, does it merit GoI to enforce the draconian laws in Nagaland?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>GPRN\/NSCN said it was in ceasefire with the government of India including few other groups. It maintained, that a negotiated political settlement acceptable and honourable to the people of Nagaland was the only way towards stability in the region.<\/div>\n<div>However, it said empowering the military with AFSPA and Disturbed Area Act \u201c to crush the aspirations of the people\u201d had not and will never succeeded.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>GPRN\/NSCN reminded that the \u201cIndo-Naga problem\u201d was a pre-independent India political issue which the British Crown was well aware of.It cited the memorandum submitted to the Simon Commission on January 10,1929 as a testimony.<\/div>\n<div>GPRN\/NSCN said it believed that the government headed by prime minister Narendra Modi \u201chas the wisdom and courage to correctly analyse and address the historical and political rights of the Naga people\u201d in which, an honourable and acceptable political solution, was the only answer.
