{"id":12949,"date":"2011-08-23T01:47:31","date_gmt":"2011-08-23T01:47:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2011\/08\/23\/dan-govt-an-abeyance-govt-npcc\/"},"modified":"2011-08-23T01:47:31","modified_gmt":"2011-08-23T01:47:31","slug":"dan-govt-an-abeyance-govt-npcc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2011\/08\/23\/dan-govt-an-abeyance-govt-npcc\/","title":{"rendered":"DAN govt. an \u2018abeyance govt\u2019: NPCC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) Monday leveled fresh criticism on DAN government\u2019s policy and decisions on issues pertaining to the public, citing ultimatums served to the latter by various NGOs recently. <br \/>\nAccording to a press release issued by NPCC media cell, DAN government has been in \u201ca spell of wrong decisions and indecisions\u201d on different public issues, which indicates that it has no will and courage to take hard political decisions. <\/p>\n<p>It said the game of \u201cbuying time\u201d with false promises was over as organizations were threatening the government with their own courses of action upon failure on government\u2019s part fulfilling their demands. <br \/>\nIt labeled DAN government as an \u201cabeyance government\u201d, pointing out that the latter had the habit of keeping issues in abeyance to buy time. <\/p>\n<p>While stating that such steps were indicative of collapsed government machinery, Congress also observed that recent developments and events were not unexpected.<br \/>\nNPCC media cell also listed out different organizations and issues that the government was faced up with, stating if the organizations meant what they said, the government would be brought \u201cto its knees\u201d. <br \/>\nVarious ultimatums that the government faced include &#8211; Tikhir Tribal Council and Tikhir Students\u2019 Union 3-point charter of demands issued August 17 with August 31 as deadline; NSF\u2019s 45 days ultimatum issued August 18 with 5-point charter of demands on teachers\u2019 appointment scam; the day government gave 30 days time to address ANATU demands, the KCCI threatened the government with indefinite closure of shops in protest against police excesses during ANATU agitation August 20; All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers\u2019 Association 30-day ultimatum with 3-point charter of demands issued August 21; ATAN threatening to go on hunger strike etc. <br \/>\nCongress also pointed out that many organizations had been protesting against incidents of killing, rape, kidnapping etc, but DAN government\u2019s failure to nab the culprits showed a \u201cspineless government\u201d.<br \/>\nOn the issue of regularization and retention of teachers, NPCC observed that almost all the tribal student organizations have opposed and rejected government\u2019s \u201cpick and choose\u201d policy on the matter, saying government had to finally give in and took a \u201cU-turn decision\u201d to keep the order in abeyance.<\/p>\n<p>Also, lashing out at the government for failing to implement 33% reservation for women in municipalities despite Bill being passed in the Assembly, the NPCC reminded that government\u2019s reluctance has forced Naga women to resort to legal recourse. <br \/>\nOn DAN cabinet\u2019s recommendation of Autonomous Council, the Congress said the decision was \u201cpolitely but firmly rejected\u201d by ENPO.
