Sazolie College, Jotsoma (SCJ), KROS College, Leirie, Kohima, Pfutsero Government College (PGC) and Modern College, Kohima (MCK) have organised separate fresher\u2019s day programme in their respective institutes.\nSCJ: Sazolie College, Jotsoma, organised its 13th fresher\u2019s day on July 15 at the college auditorium, with the college vice principal, Waloniba Jamir, as the speaker.
\nExhorting the students, Jamir encouraged them to develop positive attitude and try to grab all opportunities that come their way.
\nHe asked them to turn their aspirations into reality by working hard and giving their best.
\nThe vice-principal also said that the college has deliberately decided not to select Mr and Miss Fresher as it considered all the students who joined the institution as equal.
\nThe chairperson for the first session was Yashichubala (Semester V), invocation was said by Nzanthung Kikon (chaplain) and special music presentations were given by Nyumei Ong (Semester III) and L\u00fcts\u00fcl\u00fc Sw\u00fcro (Semester I), Kelezon\u00fc Mekro (Semester V) delivered the welcome address and Limajungla spoke on behalf of the freshers.
\nThe second session which was compered by Wellenchila (Semester V) included songs, dances and beat-boxing, vote of thanks was said by Kevizeho Pucho (Semester V). The fresher\u2019s day programme was jointly planned and organised by the cultural committee and students\u2019 council of the college.
\nKROS: KROS College, Leirie, Kohima celebrated its 7th fresher\u2019s day on July 14 with director higher education, Kuholi Chishi as the chief guest.
\nIn her speech, Kuholi deliberated on the three important aspects–to aspire, to acquire and to inspire towards becoming successful human beings.
\nBeing an academician herself, Chishi advised the students to stay focused on their academic performances and at the same time discovers themselves with the various skill development programmes offered by the college.
\nEarlier in the programme, chaplain, Mimi Suohu invoked God\u2019s blessing, while the 5th semester students welcomed the fresher with the song\u2014\u201cone in love\u201d.
\nThe student representative, Hangchio Shio delivered the welcome note, musical play–\u201ctake me to the cross\u201d was presented by KROS fellowship while KROS College, principal, Imsuinla Imti highlighted activities and programme of the college. KROS Nightingale enthralled the crowd with the quartet titled, \u201cNew Jerusalem\u201d. The top 20 HSSLC, Ngaugiayile thanked the college authority and seniors students for organizing the programme. The winner of solo inter-collegiate gospel beat contest, 2017, Thoidambo Nring presented the song\u2014\u201cgo the distance\u201d and vote of thanks was delivered by B.A 5th semester, Kaini.
\nPGC: Pfutsero Government College held its 35th fresher\u2019s day on July 14 under the theme \u201cPutting Knowledge into action\u201d with additional deputy commissioner, Pfutsero, Zeneikhonuo Vimeru as the chief guest.
\nSpeaking in the function, Vimeru encouraged the student to follow the right company and maintain a healthy environment as this habit would help them in their future career.
\nShe also encouraged the students to be hard working, keeping their priority by giving importance to the career one chooses and aim to become in future.
\nEarlier, PGC principal, Dr. Moanochet Longchar, exhorted the student to maintain amicable relationship with one another, cultivate the zeal to study and at the same time take part in co-curricular activities.
\nHe also announced about the poor students\u2019 fund to be funded by the teaching faculty of the college for the aspiring student from \u201cpoor economic background\u201d.
\nWelcome address was delivered by Pfutsero Government College Student Union, vice president, Weru Mero while Kudie Krome spoke on behalf of the fresher. Zewekhro Tsuha and Khroto-u Kapfo were crowned as Mr & Miss fresher\u2019s 2017, while Dikehro Kapfo and Wetso-u Mero was declared runners up.
\nMCK: Modern College, Kohima organised its 20th annual fresher\u2019s social at the college auditorium with winner of India\u2019s first MMA SFL challenger, Captain of Goa Pirates, SFL and First MMA instructor to NSG, Kario Issac Maheo.
\nSpeaking in the programme, Kario Issac Maheo, shared about his life and encouraged the students to be steadfast and be committed to achieve their dream.
\nMCK, principal, Dr. H.P. Singh, exhorted the students on the importance and need of becoming skilled and responsible members of the society.
\nHe emphasized on a valuable role to play in building the nation while also highlighting the challenges of the educational system inherited from the colonial power.
\nSpeech on behalf the freshers\u2019 was delivered by Komuni of Class 11 (arts).The programme started with an invocation by Aboli Sumi, managing director, Pelee Hekha introduced the special guest to the audience, welcome speech was delivered by general secretary, MCSU, S. Mopa Lanphong.
\nImnakumba Changkiri of Class 11 (arts) and Bendangmenla Aier of Class 11 (science) were declared Mr and Miss fresher\u2019s MCK 2017 by Dr. Rukulu Kezo. Vote of thanks was delivered by literary secretary, MCSU, Kelevino Mekro while benediction was pronounced by Shwenilo Chung.
