National Panchayati Day (NPD) 2016 was celebrated across Nagaland state on April 18 in commemoration of 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.<\/div>\n
According to DIPR report, in Kohima the occasion was held at DPDB hall, with minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Nicky Kire as the main speaker. Dr. Nicky described the life of Dr.B.R. Ambedkar who was popularly known as Babasaheb as one of the architects of the Indian constitution. <\/div>\n
Dr. Nicky added that Ambedkar\u2019s effort to eradicate the social evils likes untouchability, caste restrictions for a classless society were remarkable. He further stated that Dr. Ambedkar had made immense contribution for the weaker section of the society, during the new born era of India.<\/div>\n
Dr. Nicky also urged the people to dedicate themselves for the downtrodden by following the exemplary life of Dr Ambedkar.<\/div>\n
Deputy commissioner, Kohima Rovilatuo Mor, during his welcome address said that it was a privilege and honour to recollect the contributions and achievements made by Dr. Ambedkar. He stated that the celebration was significant as it brought to remembrance the remarkable contributions made by Dr. Ambedkar for the poorer section of the nation. <\/div>\n
Emphasizing on the life sketch of Dr. B. R Ambedkar, associate professor and HoD, English department Kohima College, Moanungla Kevichusa said that Dr. Ambedkar was an economist, sociologist, philosopher and anthropologist and the leader throughout his life, who had fought for the rights of the downtrodden and other socially backward classes. He was also appointed as the nation\u2019s first law minister in the cabinet after independence and also had been posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India\u2019s highest civilian honour in 1990. <\/div>\n
She further stated that hard work done by him in the drafting of the constitution made it a powerful tool for social and economic empowerment of the downtrodden, which was praiseworthy. She added saying that Dr. Ambedkar\u2019s thoughts were in consonance with today\u2019s resurgent India which was poised for a stronger economy, industrial diversification and skill development. <\/div>\n
Presentation of departmental activities was given by project director, DRDA Kevipodi Sophie, state programme officer, Social Welfare Department E.Yanrenthung and CDPO Kohima, NSAP, Menuokhrielie. Vote of thanks was pronounced by ADC, Kohima Lithrongla.<\/div>\n
TUENSANG:<\/span> In Tuensang NPD programme was celebrated at CKS hall, with SDO (C) Tuensang, Hemant Kumar IAS as resource person in the programme attended by several officers, tribal leaders of various tribes of Tuensang, NGOs and VDB association of Tuensang.<\/div>\n
As per DIPR report the key note address was delivered by the deputy commissioner of Tuensang, Alem Jongshi where he also initiated the oath taking of the Rashtriya Samrata Divas.<\/div>\n
The resource person of the programme highlighted on the life Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and his commitment to emancipate the status of the down trodden mass of the country which also contributed to the creation of the National Equality Day. <\/div>\n
He also deliberated on the 73rdamendment of the constitution of India and its impacts on the lower section of the people.<\/div>\n
The programme was also supplemented by short speeches from DRDA, NERLP, SMB, SNP\/NSAP where the speakers highlighted the foundation of these schemes and programmes and their functioning and achievement to the gathering. The programme was chaired by project director DRDA, Chuba Wati Chang.<\/div>\n
MOKOKCHUNG: <\/span>In Mokokchung the programme was held at the conference hall of ADC Planning Mokokchung.<\/div>\n
DIPR reported that deputy commissioner Mokokchung and chairman of the programme, Sushil Kumar Patel IAS, garlanded the photograph of Dr. B.R Ambedkar which was followed by oath taking.<\/div>\n
President, Watsu Mungdang, Moachila presented a brief life sketch of Dr. B.R Ambedkar.<\/div>\n
Addl.deputy commissioner (HQ) Mokokchung, Rajesh IAS, delivered a brief note on the significance of 24th April, the day the constitutional amendment for Panchayati Raj came to into force.<\/div>\n
Talk on MGNREGA, IAY, NRLM, Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and SNP\/NSAP were given by project director DRDA Mokokchung, Liboni, district chairman SBM, Bendangnukshi LKR and district welfare officer Mokokchung, Bendangkokba respectively.
