Each arms license would have an electronically generated Unique Identity Number (UID). All states have been directed to complete the process by October 15, 2015 after which any arm license without UID number would become invalid. Home department said that \u201call the DCs in the state are hard pressed to implement this project\u201d. It said that as on March 31, 2015 over 3000 arms license applications had accumulated in the Home Department pending to be disposed.
