{"id":133760,"date":"2015-05-01T01:52:42","date_gmt":"2015-05-01T01:52:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2015\/05\/01\/cleanliness-should-start-with-oneself-dc-dimapur\/"},"modified":"2015-05-01T01:52:42","modified_gmt":"2015-05-01T01:52:42","slug":"cleanliness-should-start-with-oneself-dc-dimapur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2015\/05\/01\/cleanliness-should-start-with-oneself-dc-dimapur\/","title":{"rendered":"Cleanliness should start with oneself: DC Dimapur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Cleanliness is not a one-day affair but an everyday obligation which should start with each individual, said Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Kesony\u00fc Yhome, while speaking at a cleanliness drive organised by the Diphupar Naga Students\u2019 Union (DNSU) here on Thursday.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Emphasising on the need to a more critically practical approach in tackling the garbage menace in Dimapur, Kesony\u00fc said, \u201cCleanliness, sanitation and hygiene starts right from a person\u2019s kitchen and added that maintaining a toilet defines their personality.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>The DC started his speech by quoting from the famous poem \u201cThe Brook\u201d by English poet Alfred Lord Tennyson where a person\u2019s legacy would outlive his bodily existence. He emphasized on the importance of leaving behind a noteworthy legacy.<\/div>\n<div>Kesony\u00fc exhorted the gathering which comprised mostly of students on the universal applicability and association of honesty and good citizens which goes hand in hand.<\/div>\n<div>Expressing regret over the unmistakable trend of neglecting one\u2019s environment in search of wealth, materialistic gain and personal wellbeing, Kesony\u00fc drew the line that greed, lawlessness, dishonesty and riot are not healthy for the society. He said one should build their foundation on honesty which in turn would make them good citizens and ultimately produce a more conducive and liveable environment.<\/div>\n<div>In his brief speech, Kesony\u00fc made it clear to the students community that one could bring change only when they think globally and act locally. He hoped that they would return home with the message of clean, green and sustainable environment which eventually would be a positive dividend for the community as a whole.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The event on the theme \u201cClean and Green \u2013 my environment, my responsibility\u201d started at 6 a.m. with some special highlights like, greenathon, plantation drive, sticker campaign, painting and cycling.<\/div>\n<div>A total of 14 schools in and around Diphupar along with various organizations took part in the whole day event.<\/div>\n<div>In Greenathon (Boys), Kongtha of GHS Diphupar was declared the winner, while Longsha of GMS (Tangkhul) won the second place and Othong from Ao community won the third place. In the girls category, Orenboni of GHS Diphupar was declared the winner, while Veine of Highland High School won the second place and VIlasienuo of Christian Mission Higher Secondary School won the third place.<\/div>\n<div>In the painting competition, Henry of Eastern Academy School was declared the winner, while Ashim Paul of Christian Mission Higher Secondary School won the second place and Longyang Chang of Delhi Public School won the third place.<\/div>\n<div>In the boys cycling event, Yoto of Unity Higher Secondary School was declared winner, while Tensumar of Vision Home Higher Secondary School won the second place and Viloto of GHS Diphupar won the third place.
