The strike has been called jointly by national-level road transport organisations &#8212; representing both public and private sector workers &#8212; which are affiliated to central trade unions like All India Trade Union Congress, Centre of Indian Trade Unions, BMS, INTUC, HMS, AICCTU, LPF and state-level outfits.<br \/>\nIn a press release, DMWTU stated that decision to participate in the protest was taken at an \u201cextraordinary meeting\u201d of the union on April 24.
