Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA), in collaboration with Ministry of Labour and Human Resources, Royal Government of Bhutan, and Supported by South Asia Bamboo Foundation, had organise an exposure study tour cum workshop on bamboo at the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre (NBRC), Dimapur, on April 27 and 28.<\/div>\n
The fourteen member delegation from Bhutan was led by Phuntsho Norbu, Programme Officer, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources, with three officials from Royal Government of Bhutan and eight entrepreneurs\/ artisans. <\/div>\n
The purpose of the visit at NBDA was to seek support in skill development and capacity building of bamboo products in Bhutan for promoting bamboo products and utilization of bamboo in the country. <\/div>\n
Bhutan has huge bamboo resources which remained untapped. The skill development initiative in bamboo would help Bhutan its Gross Happiness Index, DIPR report said.<\/div>\n
On the inaugural day, Kamesh Salam, Founder and Director of South Asia Bamboo Foundation and former President WBO, spoke on \u201cGlobal perspective of bamboo,\u201d while the introductory session was chaired by Dr. Tolto Metha Member NBDA, and presentation on NBDA activities was done Asula Imlong, Member NBDA. <\/div>\n
Phuntso Norbu, Programme Officer, highlighted the prospect of bamboo in Bhutan, while demonstration of micro-processing and bamboo machinery session was conducted by Er. Lipokmeren.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
