{"id":136509,"date":"2015-03-15T01:25:45","date_gmt":"2015-03-15T01:25:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2015\/03\/15\/asu-26th-biennial-general-conference-underway\/"},"modified":"2015-03-15T01:25:45","modified_gmt":"2015-03-15T01:25:45","slug":"asu-26th-biennial-general-conference-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2015\/03\/15\/asu-26th-biennial-general-conference-underway\/","title":{"rendered":"ASU 26th biennial general conference underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/HATOMJARULTYKSPSZGLN.jpg>Two-day Angami Students\u2019 Union (ASU) 26th biennial general conference got underway Saturday at Chiephobozou village hosted by Northern Angami Students\u2019 Union with renowned social and peace activist Niketu Iralu as the inaugural chief guest.<br \/>\nAddressing the students, Niketu Iralu while referring to the conference topic \u201cengaging challenges\u201d said that time has come for Nagas to prepare themselves to meet various challenges,<br \/>\nHe said it was important for a person to respond to any challenges rightly and according to its nature and also find a way for sustainability and ability to meet those challenges. <br \/>\nNiketu also said that a society must progress as a whole to meet the challenges and issues that confronts it.<br \/>\nOn present Naga society, Niketu lamented that \u201cour\u201d society was destroying itself and that it was the responsibility of all to take corrective measures. He also called upon the students to adhere to God\u2019s calling and contribute to the society.<br \/>\nHe said whoever seeks God and keeps good relationship with Him would receive wisdom from heaven to guide him\/her in all ways.<br \/>\nEmphasizing on importance of being truthful, Niketu while referring to King David\u2019s life from the Bible said that it one makes any mistakes one should also have the strength to confess and admit it.<br \/>\nNSF president Tongpang Oz\u00fckum in his address acknowledged and congratulated ASU for the contribution and sacrifices made towards the NSF and Naga society as a whole. <br \/>\nHe said Angami being one of the major and advanced tribe and pioneer in many fields has numerous responsible to contribute good things even more for the Nagas.<br \/>\nRemembering the values of \u201cour\u201d forefathers like being hardworking, truthful, brave and honest, Oz\u00fckum lamented that the present generation has left behind many of the good ethics and values.<br \/>\nHe lamented that the present generation are after easy money, become individualist, selfish and afraid to speak out the truth. <br \/>\nOz\u00fckum urged the students\u2019 community to play a pivotal role and make a paradigm shift from the grassroot level and asked them to dispel the \u201cism\u201d spirit and strive for oneness and unity.<br \/>\nPresident ASU Zakie Khate in his presidential address said the primary reason of this conference with the theme \u201cengaging challenges\u201d was to throw challenges to the students\u2019 community which the present society is confronting through various ways.<br \/>\nPresident Angami Public organization (APO) Dr. Vilhousa Seleyi in his address said Angamis have many good values that youngsters should hold on to.<br \/>\nThe programme was led by convenor organizing committee Neizokhotuo Belho, invocation prayer was said by Parish Priest Chiephobozou Catholic Reverend Fr.
