{"id":136660,"date":"2012-08-16T00:13:45","date_gmt":"2012-08-16T00:13:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2012\/08\/16\/66th-i-day-celebration-across-the-state\/"},"modified":"2012-08-16T00:13:45","modified_gmt":"2012-08-16T00:13:45","slug":"66th-i-day-celebration-across-the-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2012\/08\/16\/66th-i-day-celebration-across-the-state\/","title":{"rendered":"66th I-Day celebration across the state"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/TFXOGOWDKYRKXNCZYNTJ.jpg>Various stalls put up by different departments and Self Help Groups (SHGs) as part of 66th Independence Day celebration at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur, was a crowd puller as people were seen thronging the stalls even before it was officially inaugurated.<\/p>\n<p>Talking exclusively to Nagaland Post after inaugurating the stall, Dr. Chumben Murry, minister, agriculture, said the stall put up by department of agriculture was to stress on th mechanization, machineries and tools and implements for farming.<\/p>\n<p>He said farming and cultivation in the state continue to be traditional and manual, for which, he said Nagas should shift from traditional farming to a mechanized and scientific one.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Chumben also said considering various points, Nagas should understand that if one wants to progress in agriculture, farmers must understand that manpower was not enough and has to resort to means that increase agricultural productions. <\/p>\n<p>One of the stalls put up at the exhibition, \u201cGany\u00fc Self Help Group\u201d Diezhephe sold fresh vegetables ranging from bottle and bitter gourds, bananas, beans and cucumbers at a reasonable rate.<\/p>\n<p>Levix, group leader of the SHG while talking to Nagaland Post said their group used to sell their products at Diezhephe only and this was the first time they were participating in the Independence Day celebration. <\/p>\n<p>Another stall that drew the attention of visitors was Xaheto SHG, Suhoi village, Kuhuboto, RD block, selling steam rice and cooked meat wrapped in banana leaves. <\/p>\n<p>Group leader, Tokheni Kiho, said the group has been participating in various exhibitions for the last 10 years and utilize the income generated from the profit for the welfare of its members. <\/p>\n<p>Other departmental stalls put up under atma were agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, land resources, fisheries, and veterinary and animal husbandary. (Staff Reporter)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">MOKOKCHUNG: <\/span>Independence Day at Mokokchung was celebrated with home minister Imkong L Imchen as chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the tri-color flag, inspected the parade and delivered the speech.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>The march past witnessed the participation of 17 contingents including DEF Mokokchung, 2nd NAP Alichen, NCC cadets from Fazl Ali College, Mayangnokcha Govt. HSS, Dilong Govt. HS, Queen Mary HSS besides Scouts and guides from Mayangnokcha Govt. HSS, Dilong GHS Edith Douglas HSS JNV, 31 Assam Rifles School and Ex-Servicemen. <\/p>\n<p>Band party for the march past was from 31 Assam Rifles and 2nd NAP Alichen. March past was led by parade commander Lima Kumzuk Asst. Comdt. 2nd NAP. <\/p>\n<p>Highlight of the function included presentation by cultural troupes from Chungtia and Khensa Village councils, Tongpu Club Ungma and Gurkha Union Mokokchung, tug of between GBs Union and All Ward Chairman\u2019s Union Mokokchung where the latter won the match, exhibition football match between Raising Star Club Mokokchung village and MDFA. (NP) <\/div>\n<p> On law and order situation, he said it has been peaceful over the last one year, barring a few factional clashes in which precious lives have been lost.<\/p>\n<p>On Naga political issue, he informed that the endeavor for reconciliation among various under ground groups continued under the banner of Forum for Naga Reconciliation, with the active help and support of the tribal hohos, the Church and the civil societies. <\/p>\n<p>He said, for the first time in the history of the state, all the 60 MLAs, cutting across party lines have come together under the aegis of Joint Legislators Forum and adopted a resolution on July 19 last to urge the negotiating parties to expedite an honourable solution for which the members offered to pave way for an alternative arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>On rural development he said DAN government has been giving priority for development in rural areas where funding has also been substantially enhanced. <\/p>\n<p>Under MGNREGS, he said, 343 lakh mandays of employment was generated last year, and would be raised to 397 lakh mandays this year with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 868 crore. Under IAY, 16000 additional houses will be constructed for BPL families this year, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Serious efforts through SSA and RMSA were made to provide more qualified teachers, better buildings, better teaching aids and other amenities, he discloed with regard to educational sector. <\/p>\n<p>These efforts have resulted in improving the literacy rate of the state from 66.59% to 80.11% during the last 10 years, the chief guest said adding more than 4200 teachers were recruited under SSA and RMSA during the last one year. <\/p>\n<p>During the last ten years, the number of primary schools in the state has gone up from 1,342 to 2,244, Middle Schools from 289 to 866 and high schools from 121 to 210. <\/p>\n<p>He also informed that this year, more that 2,600 schools would be provided with libraries and 11 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), residential schools for girls and are functional in the four districts of Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire.<\/p>\n<p>On road sector, he said the land mark event of the 197th Mid Term Council of the Indian Roads Congress, successfully held at Kohima in May-June this year has catapulted the hilly state of Nagaland to be recognized at the national level as a progressive state. <\/p>\n<p>On Eastern Nagaland Package wherein, Rs. 300 crore was sanctioned by the Govt. of India under state plan, Rs. 150 crore has been earmarked for construction of roads and bridges in the four districts of Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire and Longleng. Further, improvement of roads in all district Hqs., ADC Hqs. And SDO (Civil) Hqs. Are to be undertaken during the current year he added.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from 21 contingents comprising of 6th NAP, DEF Mon, VG Mon, ex-servicemen, NCC boys and girls, NCC Konjong School Mon, Bharat Scouts and Guides (Holy Cross School), Govt. High School Mon Town,&nbsp; Little flower School, Edith Douglas School, Holy Cross School, Don Bosco School, Model School, Konjong School, Angjong Mission School (Boys &amp; Girls) Christ King School, St. Joseph School and 6th NAP Pipe band. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, various institutions like Sub Jail Mon, Civil Hospital Mon, and Old Age Home, Mon were visited by Turning Point Organisation, Mon, World Vision Mon and Shansham Organisation, Mon respectively.&nbsp; (Correspondent) <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">TUENSANG: <\/span>Independence Day was celebrated on Wednesday at parade ground Tuensang with P. Longon, minister for soil and water conservation, land resources development as chief guest.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>The chief guest took salute from 22 parade contingents followed by parade inspection and speech. Vande Mataram was sung by GHS Chaba, patriotic song by Akum Imlong School, cultural folk dances by cultural troupes of Chang, Sangtam, Yimchungru and Khiamniungan. <\/p>\n<p>Earlier, IRCS Tuensang and Chamber of Commerce Tuensang visited patients of district hospital and district jail Tuensang.&nbsp; (Correspondent) <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">KIPHIRE:<\/span> Kiphire celebrated Independence Day on Wednesday with T. Torechu, parliamentary secretary CAWD as chief guest at public ground Kiphire. <\/p>\n<p>T. Torechu acknowledged Mahatma Gandhi\u2019s idea of non-violence and advised all to maintain Gandhi\u2019s ideology. He said India as the largest democracy in the world guaranteed a life of dignity, and equal opportunity to all citizens, irrespective of cast, creed, religion or ethnicity.<\/p>\n<p>He also paid tribute to the visionary leaders who led the country during the freedom struggle, and those who subsequently nurtured the country with their noble ideas of liberty, equality, justice and brotherhood. <\/p>\n<p>He however asked all to join hands and rise above narrow interest and parochial considerations, in order to shape the common destiny and bequeath a bright future for the coming generation. <\/p>\n<p>Altogether, 21 contingents including police, students, VGs and Retired Police Association participated in the march-past. <\/p>\n<p>After the programme, IRCS Kiphire led by EAC Benjamin and Lipichem Honorary Secretary IRCS Kiphire visited civil hospital Kiphire and donated cash to the patients. T.L Kiusumong Tikhir SDO (C) Akuluto unfurled the National flag and addressed the gathering while all head of departments, DB\u2019s, GB\u2019s, political&nbsp; leaders and public&nbsp; attended&nbsp; the&nbsp; celebration.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">LONGLENG:<\/span> Longleng observed 66th Independence Day with parliamentary secretary, TPT and mechanical Nagaland P. Dako Phom as chief guest at public ground Longleng. <\/p>\n<p>The chief guest unfurled the National flag and took the salute from 11 parade contingents. Reading out the Independence Day speech, the chief guest highlighted various achievements and initiatives of the DAN government.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">PUGHOBOTO:<\/span> Parliamentary secretary for irrigation and flood control (I&amp;FC), geology and mining and border affairs, Y Patton unfurled the tri-color on the occasion of Independence Day celebration at Pughoboto. <\/p>\n<p>He also took salute from nine contingents. Delivering the Independence speech, the chief guest said under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP), 169 minor irrigation projects were completed last year, adding 120 more projects would be taken up this year. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">MONYAKSHU:<\/span> Monyakshu sub-division celebrated the 66th Indian Independence Day at helipad ground, Monyakshu headquarter with SDO (C) Monyakshu, Mono Khiam as chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the National flag and took the salute from 5 contingents.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">PHEK: <\/span>The 66th Indian Independence Day was celebrated in Phek at local football ground, Phek with minister for&nbsp; health and family welfare, Kuzholuzo Nienu as chief guest. <\/p>\n<p>The chief guest unfurled the national tri-color followed by a Rashtriya salute and inspection of the parade contingents.<\/p>\n<p>The chief guest\u2019s speech was followed by march past by the parade contingents led by parade commander, assistant commandant, Welhupe, and 2nd parade commander 21 C Inspector, 5th NAP, Imli Sunep. <\/p>\n<p>Altogether 17 contingents including 7th AR Bn. band party led by Havildar, P.B Rai participated in the march past. <\/p>\n<p>Altogether 14 stalls which included government departments and self help groups stalls were put up for exhibition. Other activities of the day were feeding of patients at civil hospital, Phek and sub-jail inmates by Indian Red Cross Society, Phek branch and chamber of commerce, Phek. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">PEREN: <\/span>Independence Day was celebrated at local football ground Peren with T.R. Zeliang, minister for planning and co- ordination, veterinary and animal husbandry, evaluation and parliamentary affairs as chief guest. <\/p>\n<p>The chief guest on arrival unfurled the National flag and took salute from 12 parade contingents, after which Independence Day speech was delivered by the Chief Guest. <\/p>\n<p>The chief guest distributed district level commendation award 2012 to M.M.Soman &#8211; P.S. to DC Peren; Wisenniliu Chawang &#8211; ANM Peren; P. Chuba Ao &#8211; BDO, Tening; Dr. B. Yanger &#8211; CMO, Peren; Haibogong &#8211; LDA cum Cashier, DC Office Peren and N. Yeheto Nartho &#8211; PD, ATMA-Peren in recognition of their sincerity and dedication to public service and district level farmers award 2012 to Apok Hengame &#8211; Potato &#8211; Tening block; Naimik &#8211; Mithun rearing &#8211; Tening block; Mzailu &#8211; Naga Dal; Kengimngaule &#8211; Aloe Vera &#8211; Peren; Hauneu Heikha &#8211; Rubber &#8211; Jalukie block; Benjamin &#8211; Vegetable crop &#8211; Jalukie; and also the best commodity award to Kangha SHG &#8211; Weaving &#8211; Tening; Kebazo SHG &#8211; Preservatives &#8211; Peren and Suiyi SHG &#8211; Sericulture (Eri silk Spinning), Jalukie. The chief guest also inaugurated and inspected stalls put up by various Self Help Groups, NGOs, Horticulture Department, Industries &amp; Commerce and Agriculture Department, Peren.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">AGHUNATO:<\/span> Independence Day was observed at Aghunato town with ADC Aghunato T. Orenthung Ezung (NCS) as chief guest who read out the Independence Day speech.<\/p>\n<p>The chief guest said with the completion of socio-economic, caste census the state was assessed to be the first in the country to reach this stage of operation. <\/p>\n<p>Realistic figure for policy and planning has been put on a firm footing to state census 2011, he said, adding significant achievements have been acquired through providing the best medical services. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">MEDZIPHEMA:<\/span> Medziphema sub division celebrated Independence Day at local ground, Medziphema town with Angelina Tajen, ADC Medziphema. <\/p>\n<p>Altogether 9 parade contingents participated in the march. Earlier the National flag was hoisted in all Govt. Offices, institutions and private buildings under Medziphema sub division. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">CHIEPHOBOZOU:<\/span> Chiephobozou sub-division commemorated Independence Day with ADC, Chiephobozou, Martha Ritse as chief guest. She unfurled the National flag and took salute from the eight parade contingents and read out the Independence Day speech.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">SANIS:<\/span> Sanis sub-division celebrated Independence Day at SDO (C) office compound with SDO (C) Mhathung Tsanglao as chief guest where he unfurled the National flag and delivered the Independence Day speech.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">PUNGRO: <\/span>Independence Day was celebrated at Pungro ADC headquarter with SDO (C) Pungro, Dr. Tinujongshi Chang as chief guest. He unfurled the National flag and took salute from the 7 parade contingents. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">TOBU: <\/span>Independence Day celebration was observed at Tobu headquarter with parliamentary secretary for youth resources &amp; sports and land revenue, Naiba Konyak as chief guest. He unfurled the National flag and took saluted from the 13 parade contingents and read out the Independence Day speech. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">CHOZUBA: <\/span>Independence Day celebration was observed at Chozuba sub-division with parliamentary secretary for social welfare, child &amp; women development, Chotisuh Sazo as chief guest. The chief guest took salute from the seven contingents followed by an inspection and later delivered Independence Day speech.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">NIULAND:<\/span> Independence Day was celebrated at Niuland ADC office ground with ADC Niuland, Hotolu Swu as chief guest. The National flag was hoisted where many public leaders and GBs attended the programme.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">MANGKOLEMBA:<\/span> Independence Day was celebrated at Mangkolemba with Parliamentary Secretary for Housing, Labour &amp; Employment, Er. T. Saku Aier as chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the National flag and took salute from 4 contingents.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">CHANGTONGYA: <\/span>Changtongya SDO Civil headquarters celebrated Independence Day at SDO Civil office compound, Chongtongya with SDO Civil Chongtongya, Chubawati Chang as chief guest.<\/p>\n<p>He unfurled the National flag and took salute from District Force Police (DEF) Changtongya led by ABSI Meren. <\/p>\n<p>Delivering the Independence Day speech, the chief guest lauded the government of Nagaland for recognizing the first Naga Olympian from the state, Dr. T.Ao and introducing T.Ao State Sports Awards for excellent persons in the arena of sports and games which also includes coaches, sports administrators and institutions who contributes towards the growth development and promotion of sports person.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">TAMLU:<\/span> Independence Day was celebrated at Tamlu Sub-division at SDO(C) premises with SDO (c), W. Manpai Phom as chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the National flag and took salute from 6th NAP Battalion Tamlu and delivered the Independence speech.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">MELURi:<\/span> Meluri-sub division celebrated Independence Day at local ground with parliamentary secretary tourism, law &amp; justice, Yitachu as chief guest. <\/p>\n<p>The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from the eight parade contingents led by parade Commander Inspector 5th NAP Chisaru Chakhesang and delivered the Independence Day speech.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">LONGKHIM:<\/span> Independence Day was celebrated at Longkhim headquarter where ADC Longkhim unfurled the national flag and delivered the Independence Day speech. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">ABOI: <\/span>Independence Day was celebrated at Aboi ADC Headquarter with ADC Aboi, John Ts\u00fclise Sangtam as chief guest. He unfurled the national flag and took salute from the contingents and delivered the Independence Day speech. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">Longching:<\/span> Indian National flag was hoisted in all the Government offices and educational Institutions at Longching to commemorate the 66th Independence Day celebration.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">Shamator:<\/span> In Shamator Independence Day was celebrated with ADC Shamator, Yanpvuthung Kikon NCS as chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and read out Independence Day speech followed by the inauguration of the exhibition stalls. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">Thonoknyu:<\/span> Thonoknyu headquarter celebrated Independence Day at SDO Civil office with HD-DB Beniang. The National flag was unfurled in SDO Civil Office, Information office, DEF and 3rd NAP camp, NP office Thonoknyu.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">CHIZAMI:<\/span> Independence was celebrated at Chizami local ground with SDO Civil, Renabomo Odyuo as chief guest where he unfurled the National flag.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">Tseminyu: <\/span>Tseminyu sub-division celebrated Independence Day at Rengma Sports Association ground old town with parliamentary secretary for horticulture, R. Khing as chief guest. He unfurled the National flag, took salute and inspected the parade contingents led by Commander ABSI, T. Sangtam.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">Bhandari:<\/span> Bhandari Sub-Division celebrated Independence Day at local ground Bhandari with SDO (C) Bhandari, Renbeni Ngullie as chief guest.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">Tizit:<\/span> Tizit celebrated Independence Day at local ground. Y. Nyangpong Konyak, addl deputy commissioner as chief guest. He unfurled the National flag and took salute from 9 contingents.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">Pf\u00fctsero:<\/span> Independence Day was celebrated at Pf\u00fctsero local ground with advisor, art &amp; culture, science &amp; technology, NRE, Deo Nukhu as chief guest who unfurled the National flag and took Rashtriya salute from 12 contingents representing the armed forces, schools and colleges<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">Chen:<\/span> National flag was hoisted by SDO (C), Ariakumba Ao on the ocaasion of Independence Day at Chen. More than 2000 people including officers and staff of various departments, public leaders, GBs and NGOs from different villages attended the function.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">ATOIZU:<\/span> Independence Day was observed at Atoizu sub-division with minister for power and election, Doshehe Sema as chief guest. In his speech, the chief guest dwelt on the unique freedom struggle of India and how she is flourishing after 65 years of independence. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">SATAKHA:<\/span> Independence Day was celebrated at ADC headquarter Satakha with minister for roads &amp; bridges Kaito Aye&nbsp; as chief guest. <\/p>\n<p>The chief guest unfurled the tri-colour National flag followed by inspection of parade contingents comprising of DEF, Zunheboto, NCC and different schools from Satakha town. After delivering the Independence Day speech, Kaito Aye took the salute from the parade contingents.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">NOKSEN: <\/span>The 66th Indian Independence day was celebrated at Noksen, where SDO (civil), Chubatemjen took Rashtriya salute from the contingents led by 3rd NAP Personnel under the command of Havaldar K.
