Ako Chang and executive chairman Nato Y. Chang Saksi N.A.P Sector, Tuensang said the team, Saksi N.A.P Sector Tuensang visited the affected area under its jurisdiction on August 11 and was alarmed by the extent of damage occurred due to two major landslides on July 30 and 31 at two adjacent spots in the area. <\/p>\n<p>It said the affected area on the first spot was nearly 60 meters wide and 20 meters deep while the affected area on the second spot was 25 meters wide and 7 meters deep. <\/p>\n<p>CSU said the landslides have left the entire area unstable and consequently, large cracks have appeared all over the area and cracks were still forming due to sinking of entire area. <\/p>\n<p>It added that the problem began three years ago with multiple landslides and cracks during summer season which has been recurring every summer due to huge increase of water volume flowing from the stream below that separate Saksi N.A.P Sector from Tuensang Town.<\/p>\n<p>CSU said the entire inhabitants of Sangtam Colony and 80% of Main Gate Colony, totaling to 58 houses have been&nbsp; affected till now while three houses were completely destroyed and the occupants had to be vacated. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe inhabitants are left with no option but to return to their houses, although large cracks are right at the middle of their kitchens or bedrooms, spending their sleepless nights and hoping that worst would not happen to them\u201d, CSU said. The residents of the area collected a sum of Rs.300 each to help the most affected ones among them.<\/p>\n<p>CSU expressed its disappointment on the total lack of concern from the district administration or the district disaster management officials as no official have visited the affected area to assist the situation till now, although everyone in Tuensang knows about this situation at Saksi N.A.P Sector, CSU added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chang Students\u2019 Union (CSU) Saksi N.A.P Sector Tuensang has appealed to the district administration to provide relief and rehabilitation to the families affected by the landslide.
