A new two-story RCC school building of St. Peter\u2019s School, Longa, in Wokha was inaugurated and dedicated in the presence of parents, Longsa village council and public on March 3.\nThe building was inaugurated by Thungbemo Ezung, an innovative entrepreneur and son of late Nyamo Lotha, who hosted the first Catholic missionary in the person of late Fr. Larea in the village.
\nIt was blessed by Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima.
\nAt the inaugural function, Thungbemo Ezung lauded the Catholic church for completing the school building within such a short span of time. He also acknowledged the earlier missionaries to Lotha area. Further, he appreciated local people of Longsa for supporting the institution and the school staff.
\nEzung stressed that with the coming up of new infrastructure and facilities, everyone should work together towards the growth and development of the area people. Ezung advised the students to inculcate work culture, which, he said was the key to success.
\nBishop James Thoppil, thanked all responsible for the support rendered for the development of the School. He emphasized that the Catholic Church was able to build good infrastructure for providing quality education due to the great sacrifice and generosity of hundreds of Catholics all over the world. Further, he appreciated the Salesian Congregation that pioneered the Catholic faith in the Lotha region.
\nHe urged the people to be grateful for the great work carried out by the Congregation, especially at the initial stage of the Catholic missions in Nagaland. He underlined that \u201cthe Catholic Church is here to serve for the people and we shall spare no effort to render the best service to the people of Nagaland\u201d.
\nAt the function, school children performed traditional dance and modern choreography.
