{"id":136993,"date":"2015-03-06T01:40:59","date_gmt":"2015-03-06T01:40:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2015\/03\/06\/feb-24-incident-organizations-appeal-condemn\/"},"modified":"2015-03-06T01:40:59","modified_gmt":"2015-03-06T01:40:59","slug":"feb-24-incident-organizations-appeal-condemn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2015\/03\/06\/feb-24-incident-organizations-appeal-condemn\/","title":{"rendered":"Feb 24 incident: Organizations appeal, condemn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Various organizations have condemned the February 24 rape incident and also appealed for calm in the state and across the country following the aftermath of the incident.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">MWSK:<\/span> Muslim Welfare Society Kohima (MWSK) has condemned in the harshest term the rape committed by one Farid Khan on a 24 year old college girl in Dimapur.<br \/>\nMWSK prayed and expressed its sympathy with the victim and hoped she would overcome the trauma.<br \/>\nIn a press release, MWSK president Fakar Uddin and general secretary K.I. Laskar demanded that the culprit be given severest of punishment according to law. <br \/>\nFurther, MWSK appealed everyone to maintain peace and to stop spreading rumours. <br \/>\nStating that all Muslims residing in Kohima were safe and sound, MWSK appealed to all Muslims across India to maintain calm, adding \u201cthere is no need to worry and panic\u201d.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">KVC:<\/span> Following the February 23-24 incident in Dimapur, the Kohima Village Council (KVC) has appealed \u201cto the Nagas and all other communities, particularly citizens of Kohima (which falls under our traditional boundary) to remain calm and to allow law and order to take its own course of action\u201d. <br \/>\nIn a press release, KVC said \u201cLets us never forget that- \u2018an eye for an eye\u2019 will make us blind\u201d.&nbsp; While condemning the rape, KVC also condemned the break-in at the jail where some citizens took the law into their own hands.<br \/>\nThe council also condemned the failure of the government machineries that led to the situation going out of control. KVC has assured to the best of their ability, to protect all citizens in Kohima so as to prevent similar incidents occurring in Kohima.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">NPF (Noke-Kaito):<\/span> NPF (Noke-Kaito) in a press release condemned \u201cthe bizarre incidence that took place at the Central Jail, Diphupar and City Tower Dimapur where people were allowed to take the law of the land into their own hands\u201d. <br \/>\nPresident Noke Wangnao and legislature party leader G. Kaito Aye also condemned \u201cthe brutal assault by security forces on the students who were in school uniforms\u201d and pointed out that \u201cthe situation was unwarranted and least expected, as these will be a plot in the pages of Naga history\u201d. <br \/>\nNoke and Kaito further said that the loss of innocent lives, damage of government properties, breakdown of law and order was very unfortunate and fervently urge upon the government of the day to arrest and quell the situation at the earliest. They also stated that the perpetrators of such a heinous crime should be booked to face the law of the land immediately.<br \/>\nFurther, they also strongly appealed the general public not to panic by such an emergent situation but to remain calm.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Wats\u00fc Mungdang<\/span>: Wats\u00fc Mungdang has \u201ccondemned the rape of a young girl by an IBI and demandsfor stern punishment for the accused\u201d. <br \/>\nIn a press release, Wats\u00fc Mungdang president Achila Imsong and general secretary Edisangla said that the Ao women extend their prayer and solidarity to the victim as well as to the people of Dimapur in their demand for justice.<br \/>\nIt said, the most shocking and distressing news was that the incident happened at a time when Nagas are voicing out serious concerns about the malice of IBI.<br \/>\nStating that this embolden act cause to prove eminent threat to our society, the mungdang called upon the law enforcing agencies to take drastic steps so that such incidences are averted in future.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">DSUN:<\/span> Dimasa Students\u2019 Union Nagaland (DSUN) has strongly condemned the February 24 rape by an Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrant (IBI) Syed Sirf Khan. <br \/>\nIn a press release, DSUN president Ditush Naben and publicity secretary Waisringdao Naiding expressed sympathy to the victim and prayed for her.<br \/>\nDSUN also appealed \u201call likeminded citizens to help eradicate such crime in future and make our land a crime free zone\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cWe only complain when we face a problem but we should be aware before hand and stop implementing in works to the (IBI) when we have thousands unemployed youth\u201d, DSUN asserted. <br \/>\nLamenting that this very situation shows the weakness of our Naga Society, DSUN opined that \u201cif we don\u2019t wake up now they (IBI) will overtake our rights in our own land one day or the other\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Various organizations have condemned the February 24 rape incident and also appealed for calm in the state and across the country following the aftermath of the incident.
