Actress Mischa Barton is suing her mother for lost earnings.<\/div>\n
The former O.C star claims her mother Nuala stole an undisclosed amount of money from her and kicked her out of the $7.8 million Beverly Hills mansion she purchased with her earnings.<\/div>\n
The lawsuit, which was filed on Tuesday, also claims she made endorsement deals which damaged Mischa\u2019s reputation.<\/div>\n
Nuala worked as daughter\u2019s manager for much of her career \u2013 which has included film roles in Notting Hill and The Sixth Sense.<\/div>\n
According to the lawsuit she was sacked from that position and is accused of bullying her daughter.<\/div>\n
It states: \u201cWhile Barton was busy perfecting her craft and turning her acting dreams into reality, her mother, defendant Nuala Barton, was secretly scheming to exploit Barton\u2019s bourgeoning career for her benefit.\u201d<\/div>\n
The lawsuit continues with claims her mother is withholding royalties and lied about how much the actress was paid for a film in 2013.<\/div>\n
Mischa\u2019s attorney Alex Weingarten writes: \u201cNuala did not compensate Barton for the use of her name, image and likeness, nor did she share in any of the profits from these ventures with Barton.<\/div>\n
\u201cThis is all despite the fact that the businesses were built solely on Barton\u2019s fame and popularity.\u201d<\/div>\n
Mischa has remained relatively out of the limelight since leaving The O.C.<\/div>\n
She was arrested in late 2007 on suspicion of drunken driving and later pleaded no contest to driving under the influence and driving without a valid license.<\/div>\n
She was sentenced to three years of probation and alcohol treatment and completed the case without incident.<\/div>\n
In 2009 she was was removed from her home by Los Angeles police in 2009 and was hospitalized for two weeks, but officers and her publicist declined to say why.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
