{"id":137815,"date":"2015-02-25T01:05:55","date_gmt":"2015-02-25T01:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2015\/02\/25\/gangwar-unveils-garment-manufacturing-centre\/"},"modified":"2015-02-25T01:05:55","modified_gmt":"2015-02-25T01:05:55","slug":"gangwar-unveils-garment-manufacturing-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2015\/02\/25\/gangwar-unveils-garment-manufacturing-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Gangwar unveils garment manufacturing centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/GKAPXDVJJBHNLACFYGLU.jpg><\/p>\n<div>Union minister of state for Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar unveiled the foundation stone for an apparel and garment manufacturing Centre at District Industries Centre at 6th Mile and Weavers\u2019 Service Centre at Toluvi village which would provide direct employment to some 600 Naga youths.<\/div>\n<div>In his speech, after unveiling the plaque, Gangwar expressed optimism that the centre would achieve its goal as envisaged, given the talent of the Naga youths in fashion designing. He said the government had initiated to establish the Centre for equitable development in the country as desired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gangwar however regretted that the north east remain neglected despite its vast potential in various sectors as the central political leaders rarely visit the region. Further, he thanked the state government for allotting the land for Centre and the Weavers\u2019 Service Centre in Toluvi village.<\/div>\n<div>The unit would be the first national project in the northeast region as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the state on December 1, 2014.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Secretary of Ministry of Textiles, SK Panda, said the Centre would enable the youth to find productive employment. He said Nagas have rich and distinct traditional costumes but it was unorganized and impeded its promotion and standardization to cater to national and international markets.<\/div>\n<div>He said the Centre was to have three production units with various machines to promote entrepreneurship, generate employment and create skilled workforce among the local people. Panda also informed that the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) would undertake the construction and expected to be complete within three months.<\/div>\n<div>Nagaland Power Minister, Kipili Sangtam, said the unit would boost trained local designers who have excelled both in the national and international arena in fashion designing. He hoped the unit would enable local artisans overcome bottleneck and help standardize products which would directly impact their economy. He said the products would cater to the markets in Myanmar and Bangladesh.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;Also speaking on the occasion, Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio urged upon the youth to take the opportunity and be self-reliant.
