On the eve of the 66th Naga independence day on August 14, NNC president Adinno Phizo, FGN president \u2018brig. (retd)\u2019 S. Singya and acting president NNC Z. Royim Yimchungr\u00fc sent their respective greeting messages on the occasion.<\/p>\n
Adinno Phizo reiterated that the Naga issue was neither a political blunder nor territorial dispute. Adinno said the conflict \u201cbetween Nagaland and India is not a political problem\u201d since \u201caggression is not a political problem\u201d.<\/p>\n
She said since British rule, Nagaland had no treaty with Britain and therefore there was no question of a \u2018hand over\u2019 of Nagaland to India. <\/p>\n
She said the offer made by Gopinath Bordoloi as head of Indian delegation to NNC leaders in Kohima, May 1947 and also the offer of 9-Point Agreement by Assam Governor Sir Akbar Hydari June 1947 indicated that \u201cIndia fully understood Nagaland was not a part of India.\u201d<\/p>\n
On the Shillong Accord, Adinno said it was not signed between the FGN and India but by certain persons \u201cwithout justification\u201d who misled the Nagas and even \u201ckilled their own fellow men\u201d. <\/p>\n
FGN president \u2018brig. (retd)\u2019 S. Singya in his message, reaffirmed that FGN would never \u201csell our historical and political rights to politics of convenience\u201d but remain convinced that Nagas \u201care born free\u201d and therefore \u201cdestined to live as a free nation\u201d.<\/p>\n
He lauded the FNR for uniting all Naga groups to a common platform where differences were aired to accommodate all views. He slammed those who were trying to derail reconciliation for their political interests. <\/p>\n
Acting NNC president Z. Royim Yimchungr\u00fc, questioned the three NSCN factions as to what they sought to achieve by years of cease fire and \u201croutine talks\u201d with Centre but \u201cwithout any political solution\u201d?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
