Sekrenyi-the premier festival of Angami, Nagas was celebrated Tuesday with pomp and gaiety by Angamis across the state.\nIn Kohima, the Khrietho Peli \u2013 No -11, P Khel Kohima village organized \u201cKiahe riitso\u201d was attended by president, Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO) Vilie-o Rutsa as the chief guest.
\nInaugurating the \u201cKiahe riitso\u201d, Rutsa congratulated the Khrietho Peli for organizing the event and hoped that with such kind event being organized during the Sekrenyi festival, people will be able to know their culture, traditional and history to a large extend.
\nMeanwhile the Ketoukhrie Peli \u2013 No -11 , T. Khel Kohima Village also organized the \u201cSekrenyi Kratsii\u201d at Tsutuonuomia Zie , T. Khel ground .
\nIn both the places the men and women folk of their respective Peli\u2019s sang traditional folk songs, which attracted huge attention from many audiences throughout the day.
\n Large donation board were also placed where many well-wishers also donated both in cash and kind.
\nIt was learned that a Japanese scholar also visited both the places and took keen interest to know the history and cultures of the Angami, Nagas.
\nSekrenyi is celebrated by the Angami community in the month of February after the full-moon every year. It is observed to ensure good health for the body and soul for the community in the coming year. Hence, it is also regarded as the feast of Ablution; thereby Sekrenyi is observed in two phases- the ritual and the feast.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
