\nThe controversial comedian blamed British society for failing to incorporate young Muslims, and claimed it was to blame for Jihadi John – real name Mohammed Emwazi – becoming a sick executioner, in his latest 10 minute Trews video on YouTube.
\nHe went on to claim media had failed to notice the \u201ccore problem\u201d behind ISIS terrorism, angering stunned viewers on social media.
\n\u201cThe kernel of truth in the sprawling, bewildering, bramble of ISIS madness is society isn\u2019t working, the system isn\u2019t working, it\u2019s totally corrupt,\u201d he said.
\n\u201cThat\u2019s the thing that resonates in the core of young people, that\u2019s the thing that pulls them into mad jihadism.\u201d
\nHe added: \u201cThe developing news narrative in most of its permutations doesn\u2019t address the core problems.
\n\u201cIf Muslims have been here in significant numbers since the fifties, why is this only happening now?\u201d
\nBrand went on to state ISIS was exploiting \u201cloneliness\u201d in society, and said: \u201cThe beheadings can\u2019t be incorporated into the main narrative of apathy, alienation, isolation.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s merely an extreme example of something that is commonly understood. That our cultural story at the moment makes no sense.\u201d
\nHe went on: \u201cIf an ideology as mad as Isis can appeal to a certain section of the population we have a huge cultural problem.\u201d
\nAngry Twitter users lashed out after watching the lengthy video, with one writing: \u201cYou…Jihadi John? Don\u2019t know…but you\u2019re one sick-headed s***. Stop drinking from your colostomy bag!\u201d
\nWhile another added: According to @RussellBrand the UK to be blamed for the monster Jihadi John. And who is to be blamed for the tiresome irrelevant Mr Brand?\u201d
\nIt\u2019s not the first time the comic has hit out at ISIS online, and made similar claims in September, then saying British attitudes towards Muslim youth are to blame for youngsters turning to ISIS.
\nIt comes after Boris Johnson told a charity activist of \u2018Jihadi John\u2019 to stop crying \u201cIslamophobia\u201d and start standing up for victims of Isis\u2019s brutal regime.
\nThe London Mayor did not hold back as he told Asim Qureshi, director of British group Cage, to stop blaming the UK\u2019s security services for the radicalisation of Mohammed Emwazi from West London – revealed to be executioner \u2018Jihadi John\u2019.
\nLast week, Mr Qureshi described the Isis coward as \u201cextremely kind, extremely gentle, extremely soft spoken\u201d, and in a post on Cage\u2019s website claimed Britain\u2019s counter-terrorism policies were the reason people such as Emwazi \u201cturned to violence\u201d.
