With load shedding imposed on colonies in Dimapur, the power department Tuesday decided to put affected colonies into six groups to manage feeders in the state\u2019s commercial hub. For a long term measure to prevent load shedding, the department said it has already placed order for a 100 MVA transformer for up-gradation at Nagarjan sub-station.<\/p>\n
The six groups (see table) have been put into two bigger groups and each would be imposed 2-hour load shedding alternately. <\/p>\n
In a statement, addl. chief engineer & HoD, Department of Power said that group A, B, C and group D, E, F would be imposed load shedding of two hours each. This is however subject to change\/modification as per real-time power availability and local conditions\/interruptions, said the statement.<\/p>\n
Explaining the present power situation in Dimapur, the addl. chief engineer said that the total power capacity of 132\/66\/33 kV sub-station at Nagarjan was 60 MVA (consisting of three 20 MVA transformers) and this sub-station catered to power supply in Dimapur areas.<\/p>\n
According to the power department, one of the 20 MVA transformers was damaged on July 24 and as a temporary arrangement, a spare transformer of 10 MVA was installed but the same was later damaged on July 30.<\/p>\n
The power department immediately chalked out an emergency plan and decided to arrange supply from Assam to feed part of Dimapur (Purana Bazar sub-station and Nito farm sub-station), said the statement.<\/p>\n
The department also decided to make arrangements to feed Medziphima, Jalukie and Peren from Kohima side and transport one transformer (10 MVA capacity) from Mokokchung and three more single phase transformers (6.5 MVA capacity) from Kiphire to be installed at Nagarjan sub-station.<\/p>\n
Stating that power supply from Assam and Kohima sides have been made, the power department said that the transport of transformer to be brought from Mokokchung was still in progress and was likely to be completed soon. However, the transport of transformers from Kiphire would take some time, state addl. chief engineer.<\/p>\n
Dimapur power situation irks DDCC, says time to act<\/span> DDCC has said that in due course of time necessary action would be initiated against the lackadaisical attitude of the power department.<\/p>\n Talking exclusively to Nagaland Post after a closed door meeting attended by all members of the anticorruption cell representing different tribes here at Congress Bhavan, Dimapur, DDCC anti-corruption cell in-charge, H. Kisheto Chishi said that Dimapur alone consume 40 to 60 MW but now has only 30 MW and that too with disrupted supply.<\/p>\n Questioning why the responsible department was not expediting the installation of the damaged transformer, Kisheto said that even the reported plan to shift two transformers from Mokokchung and Kiphire seemed to be in limbo.
