{"id":140137,"date":"2015-01-18T01:34:28","date_gmt":"2015-01-18T01:34:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2015\/01\/18\/lack-of-opportunity-is-self-made-governor\/"},"modified":"2015-01-18T01:34:28","modified_gmt":"2015-01-18T01:34:28","slug":"lack-of-opportunity-is-self-made-governor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2015\/01\/18\/lack-of-opportunity-is-self-made-governor\/","title":{"rendered":"Lack of opportunity is self made: Governor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/GEKBVLUQSGWOFIARGTOO.jpg>Nagaland Governor P.B Acharya said lack of opportunity was \u201ca self made thing\u201d while referring to the educationally empowered and unemployed youths whom he called upon to make use of the \u201crich land\u201d with mineral resources to usher in development of the state on all fronts. <br \/>\nSpeaking as chief guest at the 39th Khaghaboto Area Students\u2019 Union (KASTU) General conference-cum-workshop at Kiyelho Village Saturday, the Governor lamented that educationally and economically there was deficit, politically there was turmoil and morally corruption has taken roots. <br \/>\nHe rued that \u201csomewhere something is wrong\u201d and urged upon students to take the torch and march ahead. The Governor expressed dismay over 68% proxy teachers in Nagaland and also teachers who were drawing salaries without attending classes and said \u201cthe moral corruption was too much\u201d.<br \/>\nAcharya maintained \u201cwe need not go to Delhi for funds. God has given us everything\u201d and encouraged the youths to seek greater opportunity, to develop commerce and trade and to pick up the opportunity of look east policy adding \u201cNagaland is rich but Nagas are poor\u201d.<br \/>\nLamenting on the quality of education, the Governor, urged the students to identify \u201cwhat is wrong in our education system?\u201d <br \/>\nHe said it was an irony that despite having several hundred schools and colleges and a central university, many were \u201cforced to go out\u201d for pursuing higher education outside in metro cities.<br \/>\nGovernor Acharya expressed happiness that the KASTU provided a platform for him to interact with the \u201creal face of Nagaland\u201d.<br \/>\nEarlier, delivering greetings to the gathering, Rajya Sabha MP H. Khekiho Zhimomi said as an MP of the NDA, the central government\u2019s approach to the region was with a \u201cclear vision\u201d to bring development to the grassroots.<br \/>\nKhekhio said during UPA regime, corruption was the fashion of the day whereas under the NDA under Narendra Modi has promised to root it out and also bring back black money stashed in foreign banks. He also said under UPA \u201clook east policy\u201d remained only on the paper but under Narendra Modi, it has become \u201cact east policy\u201d. He also urged upon the gathering to plan on NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog as it had to come from the grassroots.<br \/>\nEarlier, the governor also unveiled the conference monolith. <br \/>\nHighlights of the programme included orchestra by Indigenous Arts school Dimapur, A\u00fcna kupu (couple show), Thighale, folk dance, traditional fashion parade and indigenous tune, Sumi indigenous games, (traditional fire ignition) and Angu k\u00fcpusu (spear kick).<br \/>\nPresidential address was delivered by Toka Sumi while, welcome address by convener organising committee Mughavi Ayemi and vote of thanks by former president NSF V. Phushika Aomi. The programme was chaired by Indigenous cultural society Dimapur Dr. Hesheto Y.
