Naga Mothers Association (NMA) at an emergency meeting Sunday raised serious concern over the August 31 incident and the resulting violence in Dimapur between some youth belonging to the Sumis and the Angamis.<\/p>\n
In an appeal to the Naga youth \u201cnot to take the law into their own hands, NMA said \u201cfor every mother, each child\u2019s life is precious, no matter what.\u201d It also appealed Nagas to live in peace with each other and desist from any forms of violence.<\/p>\n
In a statement, NMA vice president Sara Nuh and joint secretary Sawmi Leyri also appreciated the efforts made by elders\/leaders of both the communities to bring back normalcy and peace at the time of the crisis. <\/p>\n
NMA further appealed to all right thinking people to \u201cfoster brotherhood and peace amongst ourselves and not to be swayed by rumour mongers which creates havoc in the society\u201d. <\/p>\n
With regard to the \u201cshocking chaos\u201d in Dimapur on September 1, NMA \u201craised its concern on the politicizing of the issue\u201d. <\/p>\n
It said that the \u201cresponsibility also lies in the failure of the district administration\u201d and appealed to the administration and other authorities \u201cto be more vigilant, prompt and sensitive in any given situation to protect citizens life and property\u201d.
