{"id":143624,"date":"2012-09-06T00:11:00","date_gmt":"2012-09-06T00:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2012\/09\/06\/teachers-expected-to-be-positive-role-models-nyeiwang\/"},"modified":"2012-09-06T00:11:00","modified_gmt":"2012-09-06T00:11:00","slug":"teachers-expected-to-be-positive-role-models-nyeiwang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/teachers-expected-to-be-positive-role-models-nyeiwang\/","title":{"rendered":"Teachers expected to be positive role models: Nyeiwang"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/QDDKSKAQGWMUKZOMFYKX.jpg>Education minister Nyeiwang Konyak congratulated 32 teachers who were awarded on Teacher\u2019s Day and reminded teachers that they were expected to be \u201cpositive role models\u201d both inside and outside the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking a chief guest at the State Level Teacher\u2019s Day celebration at the NBCC Convention Centre here today, Nyeiwang urged upon the teachers to rededicate themselves and their life with a professional zeal and work for the people as a missionary. <\/p>\n<p>He further said with increasing development and ever advancing technology, the present society need an informed teachers who can be role model adding that what the future generation and society wanted lay in teachers\u2019 hands. <\/p>\n<p>The minister also informed that the department was trying to address the issue of disparity and unequal distribution of teachers through a staffing&nbsp;&nbsp; for all the categories of schools in the state and for which necessary rearrangement was envisaged. <\/p>\n<p>Highlighting the Right to Education Act of 2009, education minister said in that Act students would get their education at the shortest possible distance from home and under the national flagship scheme programme like SSA and RMSA.<\/p>\n<p>More than hundred government middle schools were upgraded to full- fledged government high schools and several GPS to GMS.<br \/>\nFor promotion of teachers in the state, minister said government has restructured the educational set up at all levels to create new avenues and upgrade the welfare and service incentives for the teachers.<\/p>\n<p>He said coming of Saakshar Bharat programme has enabled education of many adults in the state especially in the districts of Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire and Longleng. <\/p>\n<p>As per the RTE, minister said \u201cno detention policy\u201d has been introduced in the state from current year, saying it required greater involvement and participation of teachers in the process of continuous and comprehensive evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>Nyeiwang said as per the national council of teachers education (NCTE) norm B Ed or PSTE q&nbsp; all the teachers and only professionally trained persons would be considered as regular appointment. <\/p>\n<p>In view of this, a B.Ed college has been established in Mokokchung this year and the opening of a DIET in each district was in the progress, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Minister acknowledged the hard work and contribution from teachers of the state for making the state at 80.11% literacy rate and earning 9th position in the national ranking. <\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the programme began with invocation prayer by Rev. K. Luruo state chaplain, the function was chaired by commissioner &amp; secretary T. Imkonglemba Ao, welcome address was delivered by B. Tingshem K. director (SE), word of greetings from Kiremwati Ao retired director (SE) and special presentations by various schools in Kohima. Vote of thanks was proposed by Vikepelhou Meyase Director (HSS).<\/p>\n<p>The minister also contributed Rs. 1 lakh on the occasion and declared September 6, 2012 as holiday for all the schools.<br \/>\nAltogether 32 teachers were awarded with Teachers\u2019 State Awards including nine teachers in secondary level, 16 teachers in elementary level and six teachers of private schools.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, two state teachers received national award at New Delhi on Teachers\u2019 Day&#8211; L.
