State minister for soil and water conservation, land resources development P. Longon Saturday told Khiamniungan youths that they should no longer expect \u201cback door appointment\u201d through elected members (MLAs & ministers) but look forward in the competitive exams. <\/p>\n
He also said \u201cOur mindset should no longer concentrate to qualify through quota alone (BT) but to excel in the merit then shall we be called blessed and the educated.\u201d
\nHe was speaking as chief guest at the silver jubilee of Khiamniungan union Dimapur (KUD) at town hall, Dimapur.<\/p>\n
Further, Longon exhorted the Khiamniungan community that they should be thankful to God, who in spite of leaving their \u201cnative villages\u201d in search of education, services and looking towards the modern society for the opportunity, have had the opportunity to settle in a \u201cmodern city\u201d like Dimapur.<\/p>\n
For the Khiamniungan community to prosper, Longon said it has to come from an individual\u2019s contribution in terms of educational achievement and achievement in self employment in the private and the government sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cIrrespective of clans, villages & ranges and moreover from two separate countries (India & Myanmar) we are living here in a global village as one community and this itself gives a testimonial message of our unity. Since we are separated under two different countries, we have a great responsibility in the nation building,\u201d said Longon,
\nGuest of honor, S. Heno, parlimentary secretary, fisheries, relief & rehabilitation and printing & stationeries thanked all the leaders of KUD (both past and present) for their sincerity and commitment in serving and leading the community throughout its 25 years of existence.
