He\u2019s been winding us up with tit bits of gossip over the last few months, but we\u2019re relieved to say that Simon Cowell has finally opened up about Cheryl Cole\u2019s nasty exit from The X Factor.
\nSpeaking for the first time in detail to Hollywood Reporter, Simon Square Head said that he tried to encourage Cheryl to \u201craise her game\u201d because she was uncharacteristically quiet on the American show.<\/p>\n

Simon said: \u201cI came to the conclusion that she may not be as comfortable because I was seeing a different person\u201d.
\n\u201cShe was like Princess Diana when she would walk out in England, and I accepted the fact that people didn\u2019t know her here, but I think it did have an effect on her.\u201d
\nAfter the first day, Simon tried to tell Cheryl that she needed to perk up a bit for the cameras: \u201cI said, \u2018Cheryl, you\u2019ve got to raise your game a bit. This is America, it\u2019s a much tougher market\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Monsieur Cowell said that it was at this point that he and Cheryl started talking about her return to the UK X Factor with a fat pay rise. But it sounds like her manager Will.I.Am got involved and messed things up a bit.
\nSimon said (put your hands on your head): \u201cWe had gotten to the point where she wanted my dressing room. It was decided that she\u2019d come back on Wednesday and we wouldn\u2019t tell the media. Then it leaked and got unpleasant\u201d.<\/p>\n

 \u201cShe missed the deadline which meant she\u2019d lost the UK show.\u201d
\nAnd after Nicole Scherzinger had been reported to be replacing Cheryl, Simon called Will.I.Am. He said: \u201cI asked Will.i.am, \u2018How does she feel about it?\u2019 He said, \u2018It\u2019s none Oooh whaddabeeyatch\u201d.
\n\u201cThen I got nervous. I called back to tell him: \u2018If she wants to come back, she\u2019s got the gig. But if I don\u2019t hear from her by Sunday, the deal\u2019s off.\u201d
\n \u201cI never heard from her… I think her silence was quite damning.\u201d<\/p>\n
