MLA and advisor co-operation and sericulture, Azheto Zhimomi on Saturday said Dimapur is a special place for all where every Naga tribe can feel at home.<\/p>\n
He said this while inaugurating the Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) office cum library building here at DNSU office premise.
\nAzheto then said that DNSU holds a vital responsibility in preserving this unique society as it was the only students\u2019 union, within the district representing all the tribes of the state under one platform.<\/p>\n
DNSU should not only serve the welfare of the students, but serve as an important pressure group, Azheto said and pointed out that it was an \u201cideal\u201d platform to work for harmony and unity in the society.<\/p>\n
Cautioning that many unions and organizations were discredited for not existing in conformity with their goals and objectives, Azheto urged DNSU leaders to have a clear understating on any issue before actually taking up the cause.<\/p>\n
Lauding DNSU, he said the union was a prestigious one with much potential and urged the members to safeguard it from selfishness and corruption and dared them to be different and rise above petty and selfish matters.<\/p>\n
Later, briefing the gathering on accounts used for building construction, former NSF and DNSU president, Phushika Awomi said the office building was estimated at Rs. 25 lakhs; however only the ground floor could completed with expenditure of around Rs. 20 lakhs.<\/p>\n
He also pointed out that the ground floor has provisions for commercial establishments for setting up shops so that the union can have a monthly income. <\/p>\n
He also informed the gathering that a library would be set up in the office building for \u201cpoor students\u201d adding that students who have passed out, could donate their old books to the library.<\/p>\n
The ground floor of the office building was completed nearly four years later after the foundation was laid on November 25, 2008.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
