Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Nagaland branch organized a commemoration programme on International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) 60th anniversary Sunday at its youth centre, near NSF Martyrs Park, Kohima. <\/p>\n
President, Sarah Nuh delivered a lecture on the role and benefits of voluntarism in population stabilization and SRH rights. Talking about voluntarism, she said the definition of a volunteer should be as wide as possible. <\/p>\n
\u201cVolunteers should come from all levels of society, its microcosm. They are ordinary people and may or may not have special skills but who, by working together, can do extraordinary things\u201d, she said. <\/p>\n
Emphasizing on the ordinary people voluntarism, she said some of our best volunteers come from families of small means and it was a struggle for them to give free services, but they do it. <\/p>\n
Earlier, welcome and introductory speech was delivered by Vincent Belho, branch manager who informed that FPAI, Nagaland branch organized the commemorative 60th anniversary of IPPF as part of a global campaign. <\/p>\n
He also said that IPPF was formed in the 1950\u2019s and is active in 172 countries, where its member associations provide sexual and reproductive health information, education and services through 65, 000 service points.
