{"id":14585,"date":"2018-07-11T00:04:42","date_gmt":"2018-07-11T00:04:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2018\/07\/11\/hornbill-successfully-breeds-at-nzp\/"},"modified":"2018-07-11T00:04:42","modified_gmt":"2018-07-11T00:04:42","slug":"hornbill-successfully-breeds-at-nzp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2018\/07\/11\/hornbill-successfully-breeds-at-nzp\/","title":{"rendered":"Hornbill successfully breeds at NZP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/IMIOWJZIRBNAYDLBGLZU.jpg><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">A mother oriental pied hornbill, which enclosed itself inside artificial best box at Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP), Rangapahar in April 2018, emerged with one chick on Tuesday.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">In a press release, NZP Rangapahar director, Obed Bohovi Swu, said Nagaland Zoological Park had been attempting to breed hornbills in captivity for last five years, but was not successfully.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">However, with the successful breeding of oriental pied hornbill, NZP director said Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar achieved another milestone, adding that it has given park authorities a lot of knowledge about their behaviour.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">He said hornbills have a very unique nesting behaviour. After mating the female goes inside the nest and plaster the opening of the nest cavity from inside leaving just a small opening wide enough to receive food from the male outside who feeds both the chicks and the mother till they emerge from the nest box, NZP director stated.
