{"id":145878,"date":"2012-10-13T00:39:20","date_gmt":"2012-10-13T00:39:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2012\/10\/13\/hiv-prevalence-rate-in-nagaland-drops\/"},"modified":"2012-10-13T00:39:20","modified_gmt":"2012-10-13T00:39:20","slug":"hiv-prevalence-rate-in-nagaland-drops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2012\/10\/13\/hiv-prevalence-rate-in-nagaland-drops\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018HIV prevalence rate in Nagaland drops\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/WXFLRGCUKCUVPJZRJZRP.jpg>Nagaland chief minister and Nagaland State Council on AIDS (NSCA) chairman Neiphiu Rio said state government would continue to support the People Living with HIV and AIDS (NNP+) through training on paintings, carpentry or to ply mini-bus in towns through CM corpus fund so that the community could keep themselves busy and progressive.<br \/>\nRio said this during the NSCA meeting held at his residential office here Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulating various agencies and NGOs for their efforts in fighting against AIDS, chief minister said Nagaland was one of the highest HIV and AIDS prevalent states in the country, however, with the massive awareness campaign the rate of state has dropped down to 6 from number 2.<\/p>\n<p>On the viral load machine for Nagaland state as suggested by NNP+ president, Rio informed NNP+ to present formal proposal through LFA on HIV and AIDS, adding that if the machine could be used for other chronic disease, priority would be given to acquire it soon.<\/p>\n<p>Health minister and NCSA vice chairman Kuzoluzho Nienu suggested that LFA should be introduced in all the district level, saying if all MLA got involved in their own district, the functions and result would be more effective. <\/p>\n<p>To this, chief minister suggested that LFA could be associated with district planning development board (DPDB), which was agreed by members present at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>NSACS project director Dr. Nandira Changkija, speaking on HIV and AIDS scenario in the state, said HIV and AIDS rate in Nagaland has dropped down from number 2 to 6 in the country with the percentage of 1.80 to 0.78. <\/p>\n<p>As per the district wise records on HIV status (ICTC) of April 2012 to August 2012, Dimapur occupies the highest number of HIV tested positive with 375 people tested positive and Kohima with 139 tested positive people. <\/p>\n<p>Other districts, Tuensang stands 120, Mokokchung-74, Peren-29, Kiphiri-27, Wokha-15, Zunheboto- 10, Mon-9, Phek-8 and Longleng-2 making the total of 808 persons in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The route of transmission of Sero positive cases during 2011-12 has been found to be 89% transmitted sexually.
