Hushili Sema delivering the voter\u2019s pledge said the vibrant democratic election process has been widened with the inclusion of so many first time young voters from all the five constituencies of Dimapur district.<\/p>\n<p>ADC &amp; ERO Dimapur K. Tarep Imchen in his introduction speech said January 25 was first observed as \u2018National Voters Day\u2019 in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>A per the constitutional amendment (1988), he said the voting age has been lowered from 21 to 18 years as this age group in many countries are most \u201cliterate and politically conscious\u201d, and added, lowering age gives chance to youth to express themselves and become part of political process.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Election officer (ARO) Dimapur, Khekugha Sema delivered the vote of thanks and gave away citation to the best booth level officer\u2019s (BLOs) one each from all the five constituencies in Dimapur district.<\/p>\n<p>MOKOKCHUNG: \u2018National Voters Day\u2019 was celebrated in Mokokchung on January 25 at town hall. At the function, Chubawati Chang, ADC &amp; ERO, Mokokchung highlighted on the impact and importance of observance of NVD and SVEEP (Systematic Voters Education &amp; Electoral Participation) Campaign, Dr. Sangyu Yaden, president, Ao Senden gave away the winning prize and certificate of participation to winners and participants of essay and painting competition conducted as part of SVEEP campaign. Murohu Chotso, DC &amp; DEO, Mokokchung felicitated the newly registered voters by giving a badge with the slogan \u201cProud to be a Voter \u201cand 10 best Booth Level Officers one from each assembly constituency were awarded certificate of Commendation. A total number of 67 citizens took the voters pledge during NVD celebration. The observance of NVD assumed significance as it was celebrated at the time when election to the Nagaland legislative assembly was just around the corner.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">WOKHA<\/span>: The 3rd \u2018National Voters Day\u2019 was observed in Wokha on January 25 at DC\u2019s conference Hall. Deputy commissioner, Wokha, Vyasan R speaking during the day said, this day has been observed to create awareness about the democratic and electoral system especially to the new voters who have been enrolled for the first time. Emphasizing on \u2018one man one vote\u2019, the DC expressed hope that, there would be free and fair election with the implementation of photo e-roll. Two new voters from Morakjo village were introduced to the gathering. During the function, four best BLOs were awarded &#8211; Nchumbemo from 37 AC, R.Libenthung Odyuo from 38 AC, Mhonthung from 39AC and Abeni from 40 A\/C. The function concluded with the reading of the voters pledge.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">MON<\/span>: \u2018National Voters Day\u2019 was observed in Mon at DC conference hall on January 25. Speaking on the occasion, deputy commissioner, Mon, Angau I. Thou stressed on the theme \u2018Your voice, your vote, your future\u2019. <br \/>\n&nbsp;She appealed to the gathered youth to be ambassadors of clean, free and fair and peaceful election and bring changes in the society, educate the people through their voice, vote and exercise their franchise wisely for the bright future. <\/p>\n<p>Prize distribution to successful participants of half- marathon, SVEEP campaign organized on January 22 by election department in collaboration with the administration, Mon, and taking the pledge were the highlights of the function. Administrative officers, head of departments, various political leaders and youth attended the function.<\/p>\n<p>KIPHIRE: Along with the rest of the country, Kiphire observed \u2018National Voters Day\u2019 at DC\u2019s conference hall, participated by civil societies, public leaders, students, ward members and college students<br \/>\nDelivering the key note address, Kesonyu Yhome deputy commissioner, said that National Voters\u2019 Day was celebrated to commemorate the establishment of the election commission of India on January 25, 1950. <\/p>\n<p>After completion of 60 years, the government of India declared January 25 as National Voters\u2019 Day. The first such celebration was held in 2011. Empathizing on the \u2018right to vote\u2019, deputy commissioner said, \u201cIt is illegal to sell your vote as it is your identity and your right\u201d, adding, one\u2019s right and identity is more than few hundreds and thousands.<\/p>\n<p>DC further expressed it was the duty of the citizens to choose the right representative and urged the gathering not to blame politicians or political parties for not bringing development, if one has sold his voting right and franchise.<\/p>\n<p>Felicitating the newly enrolled voters, DC Kiphire said, the newly enrolled voters should be proud not only because they have grown up but because they are capable of voting for someone who can represent them.<\/p>\n<p>DC later handed over the prizes to winners of essay competition along with cash and citation and also awarded certificate to the best BLO.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the senior citizens present also spoke on the occasion<br \/>\nMembers present in the programme signed and read a pledge together followed by screening of documentary on clean election. <\/p>\n<p>(Correspondent) <br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">TUENSANG: <\/span>\u2018National Voters Day\u2019 was observed here at DC conference hall Tuensang on Friday. Deputy Commissioner and DEO Tuensang, T. Mhabemo Yanthan while emphasizing on the importance of the day, urged the people to create awareness in enrolling new voters in the electoral roll. <br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He also said it was the people\u2019s duty and responsibility to exercise their franchise in order to bring \u201cquality development\u201d in the region. DC congratulated the new voters and urged them to exercise their valuable votes in a proper way. He also felicitated to the newly enrolled voters and best performing BLOs. The pledge was administrated by Sushil Kumar Patel ADC &amp; ERO Tuensang. Shanen Jamir gave a highlight and significance of \u2018National Voters Day\u2019. In his address, he encouraged the young and new enrolled voters to fearlessly participate and exercise their votes in the forth coming state election. <\/p>\n<p>Every vote has its value in order to choose a leader for betterment and development of our society, he stated and appealed to the voters to have a clear conscience without the influence of liquor\/ money power etc., so that free and fair election is brought about. He further urged one to exercise their vote in a judicious manner.&nbsp; To mark the day, deputy commissioner and district election officer, Phek Nikhashe Sema gave badges to the newly enrolled voters.
