He has appealed to them to identify themselves with a cause.<\/p>\n<p>Stating that the country\u2019s youth have given evidence that they were aware of social, political and economic issues, Nikhul Kumar said the youth had their own concepts and views and were unafraid of speaking about on them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;He said the youth are \u201ctechno-savvy and have shown that they are a prominent part of our technology revolution.\u201d They had the sense and sensibility of using modern technology to expound their views, said Nikhil. <\/p>\n<p>Pointing out that the 21st century belonged to the youth, the governor said the success of \u201cour democratic processes\u201d depended on the youth. <\/p>\n<p>Nikhil Kumar said he was \u201cimpressed\u201d with the talents of Naga youth and their will to make a mark on their own. Appealing them to identify themselves with a cause, the governor suggested it could be either environment or education. <\/p>\n<p>He said that Nagaland has a literacy rate that was among the highest in the country but at the same time there was a need to understand that education was much more than \u201cmerely literacy.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>He suggested that state educational institutions should develop a culture of research and reference work stating \u201cThe worth of an educational institution is best reckoned by the quality of its original work and I look forward to the day when our state will distinguish itself in the field of research.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The governor also expressed optimism that \u201cpeace that is stable and permanent\u201d would prevail in the state and asked all to come together in the efforts to bring peace through democratic processes.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>With the elections fever fast catching up, the governor also said that elections were an inseparable part of the democratic processes. <\/p>\n<p>He has appealed to all the political parties, the state election machinery, government servants engaged in election duty, and the people to maintain \u201cdignity and decorum\u201d during election campaigns so as to ensure smooth and peaceful elections. <\/p>\n<p>While lauding Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) for its clean election campaign, Nikhil Kumar also urged all to abjure all kinds of corruption and electoral malpractices so as to make the ensuing election the cleanest election in the state\u2019s history. <\/p>\n<p>The governor said he looked forward to a peaceful Nagaland on its way to development and progress &#8211; a state where one could expect to benefit from economic well being through a balanced development, where women enjoyed a status of equality and opportunity, where youth were provided opportunity to realize their true worth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the occasion of India\u2019s 64th Republic Day, Governor Nikhil Kumar has reposed faith in the \u201cvibrant potential\u201d of the people of Nagaland &#8211; especially the youth to march on the path of progress and prosperity.
