The raids were jointly conducted the District administration along with Dimapur police as an exercise to curb illegal sale of liquor before the election.<\/p>\n
During one of the raids, an assistant sub inspector was injured when miscreants threw stones at the raiding party.<\/p>\n
According to district administration, the raids were conducted as part of a pre-election campaign against rampant smuggling and sale of liquor. <\/p>\n
Deputy commissioner Dimapur and district election officer (DEO) N. Hushili Sema said \u201cSome good sense should prevail among the people, particularly, amongst the youth, as liquor was the root cause of all the problems\u201d.<\/p>\n
The raid teams were divided into six teams each one led by one police officer and magistrate.
\nHushili said that the raid was not aimed at any particular individuals or party. <\/p>\n
\u201cOur intention is to at least curb and control smuggling and sale of liquor during the election season,\u201d said Hushili.<\/p>\n
The places covered by the joint teams of district administration and the police numbered six areas and over 30 locations including DC court junction, Burma Camp, the National Highway areas etc.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is just a starter, any time we will be conducting surprise raids,\u201d said Hushili and urged the residents of colonies and Dimapur citizens to cooperate.<\/p>\n
With the district administration seriously considering taking more actions, more raids were likely to follow in the coming days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
