\nThe \u2018Like a Rolling Stone\u2019 singer\u2019s iconic 1975 LP \u2018Blood on the Tracks\u2019 is one of 27 recordings deemed to have sufficient \u2018\u2019qualitative or historical importance\u2019\u2019 to be a new inductee into the Recording Academy\u2019s hall, which aims to continue \u2018\u2019the tradition of preserving and celebrating timeless recordings\u2019\u2019.
\nSex Pistols\u2019 seminal \u2018Never Mind The Bollocks, Here\u2019s The Sex Pistols\u2019 album and Lou\u2019s 1972 single \u2018Walk on the Wild Side\u2019 also earned places in the hall, as did Chic\u2019s 1978 hit \u2018Le Freak\u2019, Neil Young\u2019s 1972 album \u2018Harvest\u2019, and Abba\u2019s Dancing Queen\u2019 from 1978.
\nAlice Cooper\u2019s \u2018School\u2019s Out\u2019 from 1972, Otis Redding\u2019s 1966 track \u2018Try A Little Tenderness\u2019, Kraftwerk\u2019s \u2018Autobahn; LP and Leonard Cohen\u2019 \u2018Songs of Leonard Cohen\u2019 were also selected by a committee for a place in the hall – which preserves recordings at least 25 years old – bringing the total number of honoured records to 987.
\nTwo recordings of \u2018Swing Low, Sweet Chariot\u2019 – a 1909 version from Fisk Jubilee Singers and Paul Robeson\u2019s from 1926 – were chosen for preservation.
\nPresident and CEO of The Recording Academy, Neil Portnow, said of the collection: \u2018\u2019With recordings dating as early as 1909 through the late \u201880s, this year\u2019s Grammy Hall Of Fame entries not only represent a diverse collection of influential and historically significant recordings but also reflect the changing climate of music through the decades.
