Nagaland Outdoors\u2019 Club and Sky Entertainment, organizers of the Hornbill International Rock Contest for 2014, were encouraged by the overwhelming response of music fans, media organizations in the past four days. \nOn December 1, bands such as Divine Connection, Alobo Naga & The Band, Hello radio and Purple Fusion have performed.
\nOn December 3, British country rock legends Smokie played to one of the biggest crowds in recent time in the state. An estimate 20, 000 people attended the rousing concert.
\nOn December 4, the Hornbill International Rock Contest for the year formally got underway at the stadium where ten bands from across the country, from Bangalore to Meghalaya performed. American guitar god Vinnie Moore is one of the judges. Everyone will be eagerly waiting for Vinnie\u2019s Moore\u2019s performance at the IG Stadium on December 7.
\nOn December 5, the second day of the contest, 10 bands from across the country performed before hundreds of music lovers. Bands which performed on December 5 included Tune it Again (Nagaland), Rage Hybrid (Nepal), Black Dog Machine Gun (Darjeeling), Hidden Identity (Kolkata), Final Surrender (Bangalore), Muses of Authority (Siliguri), Condemned Hour (Tura), Restless Desire (Tura), Red Sky Pirates (Darjeeling), and Technicolors (Nagaland).
\nOn December 6 competition will also figure 10 bands before the finals.
\nIt informed that tickets to the December 7 show (when Vinnie Moore will be performing as well), and the live concert of Bon Giovi, will be available by December 6.
\nThe bands will be vying for the top prize of Rs 10 lakhs (one million) and other hefty individual prizes. The runners up will land Rs 5,00,000 and the second runners up Rs 3,00,000. Winners of individual prizes will pocket INR 30,000 each. The competition will showcase some of the finest bands in classic metal, melodic rock and the eclectic, besides the contemporary staple of good old times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
