Nagaland Home Minister, Y. Patton has appealed to all sections of the Naga society including the Naga political groups to come together as one family irrespective of differences and explore solution to the protracted Naga political issue.
\nHe said once the Naga issue got resolved there would be \u201ca new dawn of hope to start a new life acceptable to all and Nagas would be able to race with the rest of the world.\u201d
\nAddressing the inaugural function of the All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) 17th biennial general conference at IG Stadium here on October 22, home minister said it was the desire of all sections of Naga people to resolve the Naga political issue once and for all.
\nStating that All Nagaland College Students Union was a platform for the college student community that represented the young minds of the society, Patton said ANCSU therefore bore bigger responsibility to play a positive role in shaping the future of Naga society.
\nLamenting that the Naga society today was becoming a \u201csick\u201d society, Y. Patton said Nagas have lost many traits of life that forefathers have inherited like hard working, sincerity and honesty.
\nThe minister advocated that the youngsters should rise to the occasion and change the existing system lest Nagas would be totally ruined sooner than later and \u201cwe all will be equally responsible\u201d.
\nFurther, pointing out that Naga society was gripped by serious unemployment crisis, the Home minister said it has become bounden duty on the part of younger generations to venture out and compete with the rest of the country.
\nHe also said there was a need of dynamic ideas capable of transforming the mindset of the present society that believed government was the sole provider of jobs,
\nNaga Students\u2019 Federation (NSF) president Subenthung Kithan, in his greetings message, said there were no shortcuts to success. He also urged the students to fight all social evils that endangered \u201cour survival\u201d.
\nOn the use of social media, the NSF president pointed out that \u201cIf we do not use the social networking sites judiciously and constructively then it would be the root cause of disunity in our society\u201d. Altogether, 29 colleges attended the three-day conference.
\nNagas are backward in work culture, says CL John<\/span>
\nState Rural Development minister, C.L. John expressed dismay saying \u201cNagas are backward in work culture\u201d and urged upon all to imbibe the practical ways along with theory.
\nHe said this while speaking as the chief guest at the valedictory session of All Nagaland Students Union (ANCSU) 17th Biennial General Conference at Indra Gandhi Stadium on Thursday.
\nUnderlining the importance of Christianity in the history of Nagaland, CL John said: \u201cStudents should not to forget Christianity as well as the history of how the state came into existence…\u201d
\nHe said that though Nagas have been divided among the five neighbouring North Eastern states, Nagas from every state remained united.
\nCL John lauded ANCSU for being the backbone and vision of Nagaland.
\nSpeaking as the guest of honour, advisor to chief minister, Lalthara, IAS (Retd) encouraged the students to stick to the principle of earning ones livelihood by sweating from the brow.
\nHe said strength could only be developed through pain and capacity through stress.
\nPointing out that the mass media has taken a head-start in propping up mass movement, Lalthara asked the students to use the powerful tool (mass media) to take the lead in preserving the unique cultural identity and to eradicate the alarming influx of IBI in the state.
\nHe said that the key to a bigger development is to excel in any filed; from lowest job to the highest job. Lalthara also stressed on the need to be environmentally conscious to keep check on global warming.  
\nOthers who spoke on the occasion includes– outgoing ANCSU president, Tsukjem and the newly elected ANCSU president, Zhoku Thuluo.
\nThe gathering was enthralled through special number by winner of Hornbill Kids Carnival 2013, Sentienla and Menuolhousie Tsukru. The programme was chaired by member organising committee, Medo Chirhah.
