Pop icon Ed Sheeran has tweeted following the death of his biggest fan, Katie Papworth.\nThe singer took to Twitter on Friday afternoon to pay respects to the teenager, who he \u2018married\u2019 backstage at his Scottish gig last week.

\nThe terminally ill teenager who had an aggressive and terminal form of brain cancer died early this morning.
\nKatie\u2019s story went global after the nineteen year old proposed to chart topping A Team star Ed backstage at Glasgow\u2019s SSE Hydro last week.
\nThe star was visibly moved by his meeting with Katie who wore her favourite Mrs Ed Sheeran T-shirt as she presented him with a ring and a picture she\u2019d painted of a Lego a house before she went blind.
\nThe teenager had the disease for eight years and just two weeks ago, she lost her sight to it.
\nEd, who is flying into the MTV EMAs in Glasgow this weekend, signed a copy of it she\u2019d made to keep for herself, writing: \u201cDear Katie, lovely to finally meet my wife.\u201d
\nKatie\u2019s mum Trish said at the time: \u201cKatie took the picture of the Lego house she\u2019d made and gave Ed a ring with an infinity symbol.
\n\u201cEd loved her artwork and asked if he could keep it for his wall.
\n\u201cWhen she presented the ring he smiled and said, \u2018I suppose I should say yes. OK.\u2019
\n\u201cHe made it really special for her and she\u2019s since said she needs to think about bridesmaids.\u201d
\nKatie said: \u201cWe haven\u2019t set the date yet, but it\u2019s not official because we haven\u2019t been in a church.\u201d
\nKatie was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006 but intensive therapy sent it into remission for five years.
\nThree years ago, the cancer returned to her spine.
\nKatie was keen on art and attended classes at Project Ability until she lost her sight.
\nAfter she created a \u201cwish list\u201d a few months ago, Trish got in touch with Ed\u2019s management, who arranged for the singer to send her a video message from the US, where he was on tour.
\nKatie also managed to watch Ed in Leeds before her health badly deteriorated.
