United Naga Council (UNC), Manipur has asked the government of India to communicate the date for the 5th round of tripartite talks between UNC, government of India and government of Manipur on or before February 17 so as to bring the dialogue process to its logical conclusion. <\/p>\n
In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister of India Monday, UNC president L. Adani and general secretary Gaidon Kamei also warned that if the centre did not respond in the stipulated time, the council would take up course of actions in protests against the \u201cdisrespect and undermining\u201d of the democratic process and inaction in addressing the rights of the Nagas in Manipur. <\/p>\n
The memorandum also said the settlement of the \u201cIndo-Naga\u201d issue was being delayed even after more than 15 years of negotiation and seemed as if the dialogue process has been subjected to \u201cthe approval of a state of the Union\u201d which was not a party to the process. <\/p>\n
Alleging that the delay has been \u201centhusing\u201d the government of Manipur and forces that inform its decisions and policies to adopt \u201ccommunal strategies\u201d, UNC said despite number of memorandums, the government of India has not intervened to \u201cprevent a full scale communal conflict\u201d which was \u201cinevitable\u201d should the \u201cforced\u201d union be allowed to fester deeper. <\/p>\n
UNC has also urged the government of India to take up the demand for an alternative arrangement for the Nagas in Manipur outside the government of Manipur with a sense of urgency. <\/p>\n
It may be mentioned that the 4th round of tripartite talk between government of India, Government of Manipur and UNC was held in Delhi on August 31, 2012 and the Centre announced that the next round of talk would be held soon in a hill venue in Manipur.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
