It\u2019s no surprise then that their sound can be exotic. <br \/>\nTheir reinvented version of folk music is called \u201cHowey Music.\u201d Blending classical Naga folk elements from India and modern music, the result is offbeat, unique, and completely enchanting.<\/p>\n<p>Supporting their new style of music, and enhancing the cleverly-shifting melodies of the modern guitar compositions, is the addition of a Bamhum. That instrument is the brainchild of Abiogenesis\u2019 Moa Subong. <\/p>\n<p>The Bamhum\u2019s eerie lingering tones bring an otherworldly quality to \u201cLegacy of the mountains\u201d and highlight the group\u2019s fresh take on a classic genre.<\/p>\n<p>For \u201cLegacy of the mountain,\u201d the group\u2019s fourth album, the band spent four months in the studio, recording and editing relentlessly. <\/p>\n<p>This latest release finds the group relying heavily on guitar melodies with an ethnic touch and feel, tribal rhythms and beats, and of course the bamhum. The band has penned the lyrics with strong focus on social causes, and their message of positivity has never been clearer.<\/p>\n<p>There are three instrumental pieces with the bamhum \u2013 \u201cVoices of Kisama,\u201d a celebration of the Hornbill festival, an annual event in the band\u2019s Northeastern India, \u201cStroll In The Village\u201d is an ode to the peaceful honest life of those close to the earth, and \u201cAlone In The Wilderness\u201d which joyfully explores the beauty of earth\u2019s natural splendor.<\/p>\n<p>According to the band, \u2018World beneath the rainbow\u2019 is the title song for their upcoming feature film to be made next year. There are many big things in store for Abiogenesis. <\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ve already garnered a lot of attention, playing over 500 shows in India, Thailand, Bhutan and Myanmar \u2013 including a performance for Bhutan\u2019s Royal family at the Indian Embassy in Thimpu, Bhutan on Indian Independence Day, 2011. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, the band\u2019s last album, \u201cAeon Spell\u201d was listed for nomination in the 50th Grammy Awards in the Best Contemporary World category.
