Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya while expressing dismay over the condition of education in the state Tuesday said around 63% of the teachers in government schools were proxy teachers. He asked how the students could acquire value added education under such a condition. The governor said this during a short function after he visited Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR) or Referral Hospital, 4th Mile, Dimapur. \nP.B. Acharya said empowering the people through education should be the first priority while serving the people. He pointed out that education was not only for individuals but also the society. \u201cOne needs to be sincere and should be able to give value added education\u201d, said the governor adding: \u201cEnough is enough.\u201d
\nP.B. Acharya said he wished CIHSR to become the best educational institute in Nagaland and in the Northeast. Lamenting over the current situation, the governor said whatever situation Nagas were facing now had been created by them. He also said that since Naga people \u201cdid not pay taxes\u201d, they had \u201cno knowledge about their assets.\u201d
\nStressing on the importance of providing basic infrastructure, P.B. Acharya said the government should also focus on providing electricity and education to the Nagas. While pointing out the significance of the Northeast, the governor said Nagaland had rich resources including petroleum and gold.
\nOn the criminal activities witnessed in the state, the governor questioned the state police forces as to how effectively they had been able to handle crimes in the state.
\nThe function was followed by a session where CIHSR director gave a power point presentation on the activities of the institute.
\nLater, the governor also visited Dimapur Kali Bari in connection with Durga puja celebration. There, he was felicitated by all the Hindu community of Dimapur. He also visited puja pandal at Barwari Durga Puja, Bank Colony, Dimapur.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
