{"id":14881,"date":"2013-01-31T23:27:22","date_gmt":"2013-01-31T23:27:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2013\/01\/31\/rbi-conducts-awareness-prog-on-banking\/"},"modified":"2013-01-31T23:27:22","modified_gmt":"2013-01-31T23:27:22","slug":"rbi-conducts-awareness-prog-on-banking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2013\/01\/31\/rbi-conducts-awareness-prog-on-banking\/","title":{"rendered":"RBI conducts awareness prog on banking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/SWCIQGDSLWTLQUIRUCHO.jpg>Staff Reporter<br \/>\nAwareness programme on banking was organized by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Guwahati in collaboration with State Bank of India (SBI) at IMC, Dimapur on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Chief manager Lead bank SBI, regional office Dimapur, David Kire said banking today has become technology conscious with facilities like internet banking, mobile banking and ATM cards etc., and even the crooks are not sleeping but trying their best to use the latest technologies to swindle the people.<\/p>\n<p>\nHe expressed concern over the fact that many students especially those studying outside the state are falling prey to the crooks who are trying to \u201cdupe\u201d students by asking their account numbers. <\/p>\n<p>He therefore made a fervent appeal to the students not to give their bank account numbers to anybody and also urged them to spread the awareness to those living in the villages.<\/p>\n<p>He also cautioned the students not to respond to SMS on winning lotteries, as many people have landed themselves in trouble.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Dilip Singh, assistant general manager, RBI through PowerPoint presentation disclosed on how to detect a forged Indian currency note from an original note. <\/p>\n<p>He highlighted various minute details found in a duplicate note such as differences in colours, paper quality, font sizes, symbols, wrong spellings, number panel etc.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that 80% of the notes detected as forged are number panel.<br \/>\nHe stated that RBI is the only bank authorised to issue currency notes and that any notes issued other than RBI is a duplicate note.<\/p>\n<p>Basically there are two ways to detect a fake note i.e, testing the quality of paper by way of feeling through hand and checking through ultraviolet, Dr. Dilip Singh said.<\/p>\n<p>Number panels of the notes are printed in fluorescent ink. The notes also have fluorescent fibers in the paper. Both can be seen when the notes are exposed to ultra-violet (UV) lamp.<\/p>\n<p>AP Biswas DGM, RBI reiterated that RBI\u2019s main mission was \u201cgoing down to basics\u201d and spread awareness on where to put money. <\/p>\n<p>Biswas informed that RBI has given licence to 118 companies in northeast to conduct non-banking services and three companies in Nagaland have been registered by RBI. <\/p>\n<p>She also stated that none of the companies have been empowered to collect deposit and therefore cautioned not to deposit money in those companies thought they have been given the license.<\/p>\n<p>Topic on session on fictitious mails, BO etc., was highlighted by the speaker T. Bashu, manager DNBS, regulation of NBFCs\/UIBs\/MLM companies etc., by P.N Murthy AGM, DNBS. <\/p>\n<p>B.K Thadani managing director NSCB also speaking at the programme lauded the initiatives of RBI for coming down to grassroots level to create awareness. <\/p>\n<p>He mentioned that NSCB has conducted 67 such awareness programme in various villages of nagaland. Ajoy Yadav, NABARD also spoke at the programme.<\/p>\n<p>The programme attended by students and bank officials was chaired by M.
