{"id":14882,"date":"2013-01-31T23:33:28","date_gmt":"2013-01-31T23:33:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2013\/01\/31\/training-on-hi-tech-vegetable-cultivation-starts\/"},"modified":"2013-01-31T23:33:28","modified_gmt":"2013-01-31T23:33:28","slug":"training-on-hi-tech-vegetable-cultivation-starts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2013\/01\/31\/training-on-hi-tech-vegetable-cultivation-starts\/","title":{"rendered":"Training on hi-tech vegetable cultivation starts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/TVQBBYLAQKSIFUNUVLXK.jpg>Two-day training programme on hi-tech vegetable production for whole year round production under vegetable initiative for urban cluster Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) got underway Thursday here at the conference hall, state horticulture nursery, 4th Mile, Dimapur with director, horticulture, Watienla Jamir, as chief guest.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the participants, Watienla said the year 2013 is a threshold for the farmers and Nagas, adding the training (hi-tech) was first of its kind in the state. <\/p>\n<p>Though there were certain \u201chiccups\u201d, she said many plans have been taken up by the department. She informed that vegetable cluster were initiated only for Dimapur and Kohima as it was mainly for urban areas.<\/p>\n<p>However, she said after the successful conduct of the training in the two districts, the same would be spread to other districts as well.<\/p>\n<p>Informing that under Farmers Interest Group (FIG), 20 entrepreneurs under \u201cgreenhouse\u201d have been selected; 8 from Kohima and 12 from Dimapur under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Watienla said the ministry of agriculture and cooperation, government of India (GoI), Horticulture Division, New Delhi, launched a \u201cnational flagship\u201d programme during 2011-12 to implement vegetable cultivation to facilitate and enable in supply of products to over 10 lakhs population at periphery and looking at urban dwellers. She also suggested on formation of farmers\u2019 association for their welfare.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, speaking to Nagaland Post, District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Phek, Dr. Moa Walling said under RKVY the department is covering Kohima and Dimapur under vegetable initiative for urban cluster which was implemented as a new scheme.<\/p>\n<p>He later informed that Dimapur and Kohima has 54 and 85 FIGs respectively for the year 2011-12. The department also launched 20 more high tech green house in order to encourage the farmers. <\/p>\n<p>In his keynote address, deputy director, horticulture, Dr. R.E Lotha stated that the concept of hi-tech vegetable production for whole year round production was highly appreciated by the government of India taking vegetable village in the state as a \u201cmodel village\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Later, in the technical sessions, cultivation of capsicum in hi-tech poly house for all year round production and cultivation of tomato in hi-tech poly house for all year round production were presented by Dr. Subhashis Mukherjee, technical executive, KF bio-plant, Pune, and Dr. Moa Walling, HO, Phek.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two-day training programme on hi-tech vegetable production for whole year round production under vegetable initiative for urban cluster Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) got underway Thursday here at the conference hall, state horticulture nursery, 4th Mile, Dimapur with director, horticulture, Watienla Jamir, as chief guest.
