Hoisting the national tri-colour at the Republic Day celebration at Imkongmeren Sports Complex Mokokchung, the minister appealed to all concerned to maintain decorum during election to ensure smooth and peaceful election. He called upon those engaged in election duty to discharge their duty with diligence and dedication, without fear and favour, to ensure that every eligible voter exercise their right to vote. Touching upon law and order situation in the state, M.C Konyak said barring incidents of inter-faction clashes, in which precious lives have been lost, the general law and order situation remained by and large peaceful. He gave a clarion call to the people on the occasion to \u201crise above parochialism and tribalism, and rededicate ourselves\u201d to achieve common destiny and to uphold the common thread of unity and oneness. After taking salute from Republic Day parade contingents, the chief guest gave away the district award to 11 individuals in recognition of their exemplary service and devotion in their respective services. The chief guest also gave away the Block Level Best Farmer Award and Best Farmers\u2019 Group Award sponsored by ATMA Mokokchung.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">MON<\/span>: Republic Day was celebrated in Mon on Saturday with Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker, Kiyaneilie Peseyie as chief guest at local football ground, Mon. Addressing the people of Mon on the occasion, the chief guest said after 63 years, India has emerged as the largest democracy and the third largest economy of the world and secured a place among the industrially and technologically advanced nations of the world. On Naga political issue, Kiyaneilie said to find an honorable solution to the long standing Naga political problems, the Joint Legislature Forum (JLF) consisting of all 60 legislators and the two MPs, cutting across party lines have tried their best for an early solution before the announcement of election. He explained that the JLF had met key senior political leaders of the center and offered to resign from their present position to pave way for peaceful settlement of Naga political issue. However, despite the best effort, solution could not be finalized before election, he added. He also fervently appealed to all political parties, state election machinery, government servants engaged in election duty and people at large to maintain dignity and decorum during election campaigns to ensure smooth and peaceful elections, and discharge their duties with diligence and dedication, without fear or favor to ensure that all voters exercise their right to vote. Earlier, the chief guest unfurled the National Flag and took salute from seven contingents comprising of 6th NAP, DEF Mon, Village Guards, NCC girls, Bharat guides, ex-servicemen and 6th NAP Pipe Band. The other highlights of the day-long celebration were inauguration of exhibition stalls by the chief guest, and exhibition football match between DC- XI and KU- XI. (Correspondent)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">TUENSANG<\/span>: Home minister, Imkong L Imchen, on Saturday called upon various political parties, Naga hohos, civil societies, NGOs, Churches and Naga political groups to strive for peaceful settlement of the vexed Naga political problem. Addressing the 64th Republic Day at parade ground Tuensang, Imkong said the Government of India and political leaders of the state have tried their best to facilitate an early solution to the Naga political problem, with the formation of a Joint Legislature Forum (JLF), consisting of all 60 legislator and two MPs, cutting across party lines. However, Imkong said solution could not be finalized before the announcement of election and appealed to the Nagas to work together with positive attitude towards peace and development. On law and order situation in the state, Imkong asserted that the state was by and large peaceful, except incidents of inter-factional clashes and lamented the loss of precious lives. He also acknowledged the effort of the security forces and state police in maintaining peace and tranquility in the state. Imkong appealed to various political parties, state election machineries, the government servants engaged in election duty and citizens to maintain dignity and decorum during election so as to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of election. The chief guest took Rashtriya salute from eight parade contingent. The celebration was marked by cultural dances performed by cultural troupe of Chang, Sangtam, Yimchungru and Khiamniungan, band display by 23rd AR Tuensang, band retreat by Nu-Hen Open Troupe &amp; Company Band Platoon, feeding of patients, district jail inmates which was initiated by Chamber of Commerce Tuensang and Cricket tournament. (Correspondent)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">KIPHIRE<\/span>: Along with the rest of the country, Kiphire celebrated the 64th Republic Day at public ground with Yitachu, parliamentary secretary, tourism, justice and law as chief guest. He was accompanied by deputy commissioner Kiphire, Superintendent of Police Kiphire and head of departments from Kiphire.Altogether, seven contingents took part in the march past. Delivering his speech, Yitachu said 63 years ago on January 26, the people of India gave to a modern and forward looking Constitution that has governed the body politic of the country ever since. The constitution of the country embodies a secular and democratic system, and grants equal rights and freedoms, he explained. Highlighting some of the initiatives and activities that took place in the state, Yitachu said the state has many more challenges to overcome and many miles to go in order to reach the level of development. Other highlights of the programme included special song by JNV School Kiphire, mock drill demonstration by Bharats Scouts and Guides and folk dance by women group. (Correspondent)<br \/>\nWOKHA: The 64th Republic Day was celebrated at Wokha with minister for health and family welfare, Kuzholuzo as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Kuzholuzo said Nagaland as the 16th state of India was marching ahead on the path of progress and prosperity along with the rest of the nation. He said though violence and disturbed law and order condition impeded the progress of the country in the past, the last one decade has seen relative peace and development. Stating that Nagaland has been specially protected in the form of Article 371A of the constitution, that grants special safeguards traditions and customary practices, as well as ownership of land and its resources, including underground minerals, he said Nagas have a much greater say in managing own affairs and resources than any other state of the Union of India. With the state assembly election approaching, Kuzholuzo appealed to all political parties, state election machinery, government servants engaged in election duty and people at large to maintain dignity and decorum during the election campaigns so as to ensure smooth and peaceful election. Altogether, nine parade contingents including, 17th AR, &amp; NAP, DEF, Home Guards, Ex-Service Man, NCC, Scout &amp; Guides, DBS and Little Flower School 17th AR took part in the march past. The parade contingents was led by Asstt. Commandant, Limaonen.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">ZUNHEBOTO<\/span>: Zunheboto district observed the 64th Republic Day at public local ground with minister for soil and water conservation, land resources department, P. Longon as chief guest. After hoisting the national flag the chief guest read out the Republic Day speech. This was followed by salutation from contingents of armed forces, Olympic Higher Secondary School, Scouts &amp; Guides Girls, NCC and retired armed personnel and retreat by 21 AR. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">PHEK<\/span>: The 64th Republic Day was celebrated at the Phek football ground with minister for planning and co-ordination, veterinary and animal husbandry, evaluation, and parliamentary affairs, T. R. Zeliang as the chief guest. The chief guest on his arrival unfurled the national tri-colour, took the Rashtriya salute, followed by the National Anthem. He inspected the parade contingents and delivered the Republic Day\u2019s speech, followed by the march past led by parade Commander, Asst. Commandant 5th NAP, Konathung Lotha and 2nd parade commander ABI, Medongulie from the DEF. The contingents who took part in the march past included 7th AR Battalion, Phek led by Naik Subedar GK Lembu, 5th NAP Led by Platoon Commander, ABSI, Alemyopong Longkumer, DEF led by Platoon Commander, ABI Peter Thai, Govt. Higher Secondary School, NCC led by Sgt. NCC infantry, Diekulo, Royal Foundation School Led by Rahu Venuh and 7th AR Bn. Phek band party. The chief guest later inaugurated and inspected the stalls which were put up by SHG, Losami village, department of agriculture, horticulture, ATMA, urban development, social welfare, 7th AR, DEF, veterinary and animal husbandry.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">PEREN<\/span>: Peren district celebrated the 64th Republic Day at Peren local ground with minister for agriculture, Dr. Chumben Murry as chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from 10 parade contingents comprising of DEF Peren, NCC boys, NCC girls, NCC Govt. High School Peren, Sainik School Punglwa, Bharat Scout and Guides Peren district, Baptist High School Peren, All Saints Hr. Sec. School, Peren, Govt. High School Peren, Band Party 9th IR Saijang. Delivering the Republic Day speech, the chief guest underlined various government schemes and developments. He also said the Government of India and political leaders of the state have tried their best to facilitate an early solution to the Naga political problem and appealed to all political parties, Naga Hohos, civil societies, NGOs and Churches as well as the Naga underground groups to continue working for peaceful settlement of Naga political issue. He also acknowledged the initiative taken by the churches in Nagaland in propogating \u2018clean election\u2019 so that every eligible voter would exercise his\/her vote. He stated Nagas have natural talent in sports, games and music, bringing laurels to the state and congratulated the people of Nagaland, Sky Entertainment Group, Music Task Force and the musicians of Nagaland for their recent successful attempt in creating the largest electric guitar in the Guinness Book of World Records. He urged upon the people to commit themselves to ensure free and fair assembly election for electing good leaders. Later, the chief, inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by eight Self Help Groups under ATMA-Peren district and weapon exhibition by 18th A.R. Peren.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">LONGLENG<\/span>: The 64th Republic Day was celebrated in Longleng with minister for school education and SCERT Nagaland, Nyeiwang Konyak as the chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the National Flag and took salute from five parade contingents that included DEF Longleng, 6th NAP, Village Guards, Nyengching School Scouts &amp; Guides, and GHSS Scouts &amp; Guides. Addressing the public at local ground, the chief guest called on the people to rise above all parochialism and tribalism, and uphold the common thread of unity and oneness. He also challenged the gathering to commit oneself to ensure a free and fair election in a peaceful atmosphere. Later, the chief guest inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by the departments of agriculture, horticulture, and ATMA Longleng.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">PUNGRO<\/span>: People of Pungro headed by administration, all ranks and staff from different departments, NGOs, people from all walks of life converged at Pungro public ground to mark and celebrated the 64th Republic Day. The national flag was unfurled by ADC Pungro, S. Tainiu. In her speech, S. Tainiu called public to be united and work collectively for uplift of the general public. VG Pungro village and band party of Zhimkiur were the parade contingents. Saramati cultural troupe Pungro and women cultural troupe Pungro presented traditional song and folk dance. After the formal programme, tribal leaders and various officers participated in a game of tug of war. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">TSEMINYU<\/span>: Tseminyu sub-division celebrated Republic Day at ADC office complex with ADC Tseminyu, Wonchio Odyuo who unfurled the National flag and took salute from DEF and NAP contingents. National anthem was sung by Sunday school children NAP church Tseminyu town. ADC appealed to the government servants to be dedicated in their duties and sought cooperation to work as a team for the welfare of the sub-division. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">CHOZUBA<\/span>: Chozuba sub-division celebrated Republic Day with ADC Chozuba, Polan John unfurling the National flag. The chief guest took Rashtriya salute from the 5th NAP Battalion. All head of officers, VCC, ATC members, GB\u2019s and public leaders attended the function.&nbsp; <br \/>\n&nbsp; <br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">PFUTSERO<\/span>: Pfutsero sub-division celebrated Republic Day at ADC office Complex, Pfutsero with ADC, Vikishe Sema as chief guest. The ADC unfurled the national flag, took Rashtriya salute and delivered a Republic Day speech. The national anthem was sung by Theological College, Pfutsero. Students, public leaders, GB\u2019s and head of officers with staff attended the celebration. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">TULI<\/span>: Tuli celebrated Republic Day at public ground with ADC Tuli, Sehgang Tangkhul as chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from DEF, Tuli and also read out the Republic Day message. National anthem was sung by Tuli College. All government employee, commandant Indian Reserve Battalion, Tuli, GB\u2019s, Dobashi\u2019s, public leaders and general public attended the programme.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Changtonya<\/span>: Changtonya SDO headquarter celebrated Republic Day at SDO (C) office compound with SDO (C) Changtonyam, M.S. Thongpong Khaimungam NCS as chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and delivered the Republic Day speech, where he urged government servants engaged in the ensuing election to discharge their duties with diligence and dedication. The chief guest took salute from D.E.F (Police) Changtonya. Government official, ward leaders, GBs attended the celebration.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">SHAMATOR<\/span>: Shamator sub-division celebrated Republic Day at parade ground Shamator with ADC Shamator, Yanpvuthung Kikon NCS as chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the tri-colour flag and delivered the Republic Day speech. 3rd NAP Shamator, Village Guard Shamator, police out post Shamator and St. Xavier School Shamator participated in the march past.
