Functions were held across all the 11 district headquarters and sub-divisions of the state with ministers, parliamentary secretaries, MLAs and government officials unfurling the tri-colour and delivering Independence Day speeches. The day was marked by colourful parades and other events.<\/div>\n<div>DELHI: The Independence Day Function was held at Nagaland House, 29, Aurangzeb Road New Delhi. Nagaland minister for health and family welfare P.Longon unfurled the National Flag in the morning at 9 a.m. The programme was chair by Resident Commissioner Jyoti Kailash. The minister thanked the Resident Commissioner and his staffs, House guard Nagaland Police and Children for Organizing Independence Day Function. Longon said nation has achieved much in the past 67 years, saying the nation had a great expectation on leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in days to come.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>MOKOKCHUNG: The 68th Interdependence Day celebration in Mokokchung was celebrated successfully with thousands of public attending the celebration at the local ground (Imkongmeren Sports Complex). The National flag was unfurled by Minister for NH, Mechanical, Soil &amp; Water Conservation, Nuklotoshi as chief guest. Upon arrival, the chief guest reviewed the parade. The chief guest also delivered the speech and took salute of the march past contingents. Minister later gave away various awards including District Award, Best Block Farmer Award and Best Block Farmer Group Award. &nbsp;The celebration also witnessed various presentations of special items by Kumlong Children Choir, People\u2019s College Students\u2019 Union, demonstration by Mokokchung District Taekwondo Association, Sangtam Community, Mokokchung and Tug-of-war between Kumlong ward and Dilong Ward.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Later, chief guest visited the stalls put by 31 Assam Rifles Mokokchung where various arms and ammunition were displayed. An exhibition football match was played between Rongpang Sporting Club, Arkong ward versus Telongjem Football Club, Chungtia as part of I-day celebration before beating the retreat. This year\u2019s celebration also witnessed the highest number of march past contingents &#8212; 19 contingents with 31 AR and 2nd NAP bands. Also, a total of 37 persons received the district award while 10 farmers received the Best Block Farmer Award and five groups received the Best Block Farmer Group Award. The awards were handed over by the chief guest. (Correspondent)<\/div>\n<div>KIPHIRE: &nbsp;Parliamentary secretary for labour &amp; employment Dr. Longrineken hoisted the National Flag as chief guest and took the salute of 14 parade contingents at Kiphire Friday. The chief guest also read out the speech that highlighted the development activities and the progress of the state and the country. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Later, the chief guest inaugurated 14 stalls put up by various departments, NGO and farmers groups in the district.<\/div>\n<div>First ever Aircel connection road show was also held on the I-Day at Kiphire. IRCS Kiphire branch visited the patients at DHK and Inmates of Sub-Jail.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In march past, Agape school stood first in non uniform category and in uniform category NCC Zisaji Presidency college stood first. &nbsp;Other highlights of the programme included drill display by Agape school, special song by charitable trust brothers &amp; Rashtra Bharat Samati Kiphire, cultural dance by Phelungre village both men and women.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In the evening, volleyball exhibition match was played between Medical Ward and Elite club followed by prize distribution and retreat by VG Band Party. (Correspondent)<\/div>\n<div>NOKLAK: Parliamentary secretary for information technology &amp; communication, science &amp; technology, technical education and taxes Tovihoto Ayemi, who graced the Independence Day celebration at Noklak town as chief guest, revealed that the state ranked third among the northeast states in e-transactions.<\/div>\n<div>Stating that Nagaland was working to make IT services available to the masses, Tovihoto said 220 Common Service Centres have already been set up. He also pointed out that e-tendering system has been introduced within the state while Final Acceptance Testing of State Wide Area Network has been initiated through a Third Party Audit.<\/div>\n<div>Tovihoto reminded that online payment system for certain services such as NPSC examination fees and taxes could now be made through the State Portal. Parliamentary secretary said Nagaland was the first in the northeast region to have done so. Earlier, Tovihoto unfurled the national tri-colour, reviewed the parade and took salute from the 10 marching contingents. Later, the chief guest visited the stalls set up by various NGOs. &nbsp;Khiamniungan women folk presented traditional musical instrument.<\/div>\n<div>NIULAND: Niuland sub-division celebrated 68th Independence Day at Niuland public ground with parliamentary secretary for law and justice Jacob Zhimomi as chief guest Friday.<\/div>\n<div>Jacob Zhimomi unfurled the National flag and took salute from eight parade contingents &nbsp;including 1st NAP, 15th NAP (IR) Mahila, GHSS NCC, GHSS (boys &amp; girls), JNV Nihokhu, Shepherd Montessori school, St Joseph school (boys &amp; girls) and Modern high school.<\/div>\n<div>Other highlights of the programme included bamboo dance by St Joseph school, karate display by Reginal Hughees memorial school, choreography by shepherd Montessori school and JNV Nihokhu, cultural. Folk dance was presented by Pihekhu village (men) and Hovukhu village (women). Tug of war was played between DBs and GBs followed by inauguration of exhibition of stalls by chief guest. Exhibition stalls were also inaugurated by the chief guest.<\/div>\n<div>Later, institutional visits to District Hospital, Sub-jail and Douglas Orphanage home were undertaken by Hills Area Development Organisation and World Vision.<\/div>\n<div>PHOMCHING: Independence Day in Phomching was celebrated with SDO (C) Phomching Pakon as chief guest. He hoisted the tri-colour and took salute from 7 contingents viz. Village guards, boys and girls from GMS Phomching, Boys and girls of GPS Phomching and Boys and girls of Good Samaritan School Phomching.<\/div>\n<div>Other highlights of the day included choreography and Drill display by GMS, GPS, KGBV Hostellers and Good Samaritan school. &nbsp;Later, football match was played between SDO(C) Xl vs Village Guards Xl. People from neighboring villages attended the Independence Day celebration at Phomching.<\/div>\n<div>PEREN: Minister of agriculture Dr.Benjongliba Aier graced the 68th Independence Day as chief guest at Peren town. After hoisting the National Flag, he inspected the parade and gave the Independence Day Speech and received the guard of honour.<\/div>\n<div>Altogether, 11 contingents took part in the parade. The parade was followed by cultural programme where special songs were presented by Namnahei Nza, Naga Idol Finalist and DAPJOS, Peren. Drills were presented by All Saints HSS,perern, Folk songs by Leirauma and special shows were presented by JNV, Jaluki.<\/div>\n<div>Later, Dr. Aier declared open the exhibitions and visited the various stalls exhibited by ATMA, department of agriculture, department of horticulture, self help groups, Armoury Shows by AR, etc. followed by visiting the Orphanage run by the Zeliangrong Mipui Organisation and 18 AR, Peren where he interacted with the inmates. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>TENING: NIDC chairman Namri Nchang unfurled the National Flag at Tening ADC headquarter on the occasion of Independence Day celebration August 15. Cultural dance, drill and arms was displayed by Tening cultural troupe, government high school, St. Francis De Sales school, Zeliangrong Heraka school, Baptist High school and 18 AR respectively.<\/div>\n<div>TULI: The 68th Independence Day at Tuli ADC Hq was celebrated peacefully with parliamentary secretary Development Authority Nagaland &amp; Nagaland Hotels Ltd S.Chuba Longkumer as chief guest. A total of 9 contingents participated in the march past followed by cultural display. The special highlight of the function included band display by Longpong Ward Band Party. More than 2000 people gathered to witness the function.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>PUNGLWA: On the occasion of 68th Independence Day, Sainik School Punglwa remembered and honoured the great patriots and martyrs.<\/div>\n<div>School principal Capt (IN) Kanchan Mukherjee graced the occasion as the chief guest. The function was attended by all the cadets, staff and families. The celebration began with hoisting of the national flag. The day\u2019s celebration ended with the echoing beat of the national anthem. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>DCCI: Members of Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) led by its president Hokivi Chishi visited District Hospital, Dimapur in commemoration of 67th anniversary of India\u2019s Independence and distributed food items and fruits to the patients of the hospital on Friday.<\/div>\n<div>LONGLENG: The 68th Indian Independence Day was observed in Longleng with parliamentary secretary for land resources B.S.Nganlang Phom as chief guest amidst heavy shower. Thousands of people turned up to witnessed various presentations performed by children from different schools, indigenous live show, contemporary dances and songs followed by the folk dances of men and women groups.<\/div>\n<div>Earlier, chief guest unfurled the flag and read out the Independences Message followed by taking of Rastriya Salute from different marching contingents. &nbsp;At the celebration, awards were presented by different departments to individuals and groups for their distinguish achievement in various fields.<\/div>\n<div>All together 11 parade Contingents took part in today\u2019s celebration including Schools students, Scout &amp; Guides, Village Guards, 10th IRB, 2nd NAP and NCC.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In the afternoon, the chief guest also declared opened the exhibition stalls setup by SHGs, government departments like agriculture, horticulture, KVK and many others. In the evening session, several teams of Longleng District took part in Football Match. The celebration also witnessed short play on Indian Freedom Movement.<\/div>\n<div>IRCS MKG: Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Mokokchung district branch celebrated the Independence Day at Public Ground Mokokchung August 15. Junior Red Cross members from Mayangnokcha government higher secondary school, Edith Douglas higher secondary school and Queen Mary higher secondary school distributed bookmarks to all the spectators.<\/div>\n<div>LIONS CLUB DMU: Lions and Leo Club of Dimapur celebrated Independence Day at Loins Center. The National Flag was hoisted in the presence of the members of the Lions Club, Blue Vanda and Leo Club of Dimapur.
