{"id":15266,"date":"2013-03-20T00:04:54","date_gmt":"2013-03-20T00:04:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2013\/03\/20\/former-nwhd-president-alleges-ism-within-hoho\/"},"modified":"2013-03-20T00:04:54","modified_gmt":"2013-03-20T00:04:54","slug":"former-nwhd-president-alleges-ism-within-hoho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2013\/03\/20\/former-nwhd-president-alleges-ism-within-hoho\/","title":{"rendered":"Former NWHD president alleges \u2018ism\u2019 within Hoho"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Former Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) president, Tiala Sapuh has alleged that one of the Hoho\u2019s president brought \u201cbad name\u201d with \u2018isms\u2019 and \u201cdivisions\u201d within the Hoho.<\/p>\n<p>Condemning such \u201cunethical leadership\u201d, Sapuh claimed her statement was made so that such \u201cundemocratic attitude\u201d was not repeated by anyone in the future and to bring \u201cjustice\u201d to all the women. \u201cTribalism, divisions was created among the women groups which never happen in the past\u201d claimed Sapuh.<\/p>\n<p>On June 23, 2012, Sapuh said the former president and her team completed its tenure; however she claimed that \u201csome members\u201d felt that the then president failed to be \u201ctransparent and accountable\u201d during her leadership. <\/p>\n<p>Sapuh added that the \u201cinefficient quality\u201d of functioning was \u201crightly and clearly\u201d published by the then general secretary in the newspapers on November 16, 2012. <\/p>\n<p>To support her allegations, Sapuh claimed that one March 16, 2012 the former president submitted the names of eight women candidates, all belonging to \u201cmajority\u201d Naga tribe, for DMC elections. <\/p>\n<p>She claimed that more than 14 applicants from different tribes submitted their application to NWHD for screening; however without the knowledge of the house and screening, the former president chose only four major tribes and \u201cdeliberately left out the rest\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Sapuh also alleged the former president of not maintaining transparency when fresh application for the year 2009-10 was sought by the directorate of women development to assist the department in implementation of different projects.<\/p>\n<p>Stating that the former president\u2019s tenure was to be over by June 23, 2012, Sapuh said that on July 10, 2012 the then president called an emergency meeting to discuss some important agendas during which the president citied that a resolution was passed by JACWR on May 1, 2012 requesting all tribe women organizations to let tenure of the then office bearers continue till the 33% women reservation issue was solved. <\/p>\n<p>On discussing the resolution minutely by the Hoho members, Sapuh said NWHD advisor apprised the members that the Hoho\u2019s office would function according to the \u201csituation and condition of the organization\u201d and that such resolution passed by JACWR had no \u201cbinding effect\u201d on the functioning of the Hoho. Finally, Sapuh said the house agreed to follow the five-year tenure of the Hoho. <\/p>\n<p>Terming \u201cdragging\u201d the issue of \u201cNWHD\u2019s questionable leadership\u201d to Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) through \u201cfew members\u201d of the council as \u201ctoo childish\u201d, Sapuh said that NCD in an appeal addressed to NWHD president and secretary and a copy sent to all the respective tribe unit appealed to \u201clead the team until 31st Jan 2013, to facilitate a smooth transition under congenial atmosphere.\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>In this connection, Sapuh said the NCD convened a meeting on November 23, 2012 at the council\u2019s unity hall, attended by women due to their \u201cthirst for justice\u201d and hoping that the same would be delivered; however she claimed that the meeting turned out to be \u201chostile\u201d for women.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Sapuh claimed that \u201csome\u201d male members \u201cthreatened\u201d the women who stood for \u201cright and justice\u201d and accused NCD for failing to control the \u201cbarbaric action\u201d and \u201chostile attitude\u201d of its members, especially the vice president and of one the councillors.<\/p>\n<p>Sapuh claimed that the councillor \u201cinsulted the South Nagas\u201d and deprived their right to speak by his \u201cbarbaric attitude\u201d by asking them to \u201cshut up\u201d. She further claimed that the councillor even threatened to \u201cbeat up\u201d her up and also a fellow NCD councillor.<\/p>\n<p>Asserting that civil society leaders should not mixe up the affairs of the society with political affairs for \u201cpolitical interest\u201d, Sapuh reminded that civil society organizations were formed to serve for the cause of social welfare and not for political affair or politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRespecting women\u2019s right is respecting human right\u2026.a decent society must protest not only on sexual violence\u2019 but against all kinds of atrocities and violence against women\u201d added Sapuh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) president, Tiala Sapuh has alleged that one of the Hoho\u2019s president brought \u201cbad name\u201d with \u2018isms\u2019 and \u201cdivisions\u201d within the Hoho.
